First Light Farm

September is just the best. Bugs screwed off, the air is crisp, the veggies are pumping, the weather is stunning and there is so much to do this weekend. Bike fest is happening, garlic fest on Sunday and LFI Revelstoke Farmers Market starts it all off this Saturday. Come down for some delicious veggies to power you up for a weekend of fun. This weather doesn’t get any better. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Thank you to everyone who has been stopping by the farm stand this summer. It’s a lot of work keeping up with you guys!

We appreciate everyone’s honesty and diligence doing your own math and recording it on our rudimentary log sheet. We also appreciate our neighbours who are understanding and keep an eye on the farm stand for us, we couldn’t do it without their cooperation.

The farm stand will continue to be open and stocked twice daily until Late October at which point we will operate part-time here at the farm and you will be able to purchase veggies and fruit from us through an online store through the winter months. Stay tuned for that (once we figure it out).

September might be the best month of the year for farming. Coming out of the most intense month of the year, August. It’s nice to be able to catch a breath and enjoy the fruits of a busy summer. The bugs are chilling out, the smoke is gone, the heat mellows and the vegetables are still pumping. The fields are still full of goodness. Wow, after a week of smoke, it felt like pure bliss to breathe in clean mountain air. The smoke sure makes you appreciate the simplicity of clean air.

The crew has been hustling all week harvesting crops. The first potatoes are in, celery is in, and delicious watermelons are pumping among all the regulars.

We can't think of a better way to start your Saturday than heading down to the LFI Revelstoke Farmers Market and grabbing some fresh local produce.

Farming can be funny, you spend all spring wishing the veggies would hurry up and grow. Then July and August happen and you start wishing they would slow down.

It’s mid-July and the crops are pumping. Harvest, wash, pack, on repeat. Try to fit a couple other farm tasks in between. Sometimes there just doesn’t seem like quite enough time in the day.

We are bringing lots of delicious veggies to , a very limited amount of the first tomato’s of the season. Get there early and beat the heat. See you there.
