Because there was a possibility buried inside those two words that Megan hadn’t allowed herself to consider.

Not that Adrian would become Ryan. She didn’t want that. Ryan had occupied his own place in her life, and no one else would ever fit inside it.

And that’s all you’re getting. 👀

Megan’s story in this book has been… a lot. Grief doesn’t disappear just because someone new makes you smile. And maybe moving forward isn’t about replacing what you lost at all.

Anyway. I’ll stop before I actually spoil something. 😂

If you’ve read the Blake & Turner books, you already know Sienna doesn’t exactly enter a room quietly.

She arrives.

And somehow, things happen.

On September 19th, I’ll be stepping away from my keyboard and doing something a little different. I’ve been invited to join the “So This Is a Job?” Author Panel at the Writers of the Realm Festival 2026!

I’ll be joining fellow authors Don Bourque, Alison Voss and Ryan Brown, along with our host Becca Blue, for a conversation about what being an author actually looks like behind the books.

Writing, editing, publishing, marketing, events, social media… basically all the things nobody warns you about when you decide, Hey, I think I’ll write a book. 😂

I’m really excited (and maybe a tiny bit nervous!) to be part of this and to represent crime fiction on the panel. 🖤

I’m officially nearing the end of Draft One, and my main character still has absolutely no idea just how many mistakes she’s made.

She’ll figure it out.

Eventually. 😂

Okay, thriller readers. I have a question for you.

Breaking into crime/thriller fiction as a new author is… interesting. 😂

Not because there aren’t readers. There are millions of them.

But you’re walking into a genre with characters like Jack Reacher, Harry Bosch, Alex Cross and so many others who’ve had years, sometimes decades, to become their readers’ people.

And meanwhile, I’m sitting over here with Reese Falcon.

I’ve tried the traditional publishing route with Reese and, so far, she hasn’t found her home.

But here’s the thing.

I don’t want Reese to be the next Jack Reacher.

I want her to be Reese Falcon.

So I’m curious, especially from those of you who read crime and thrillers:

What makes you take a chance on a new series or a new protagonist?

Is it the character? The premise? The voice? The first chapter? A recommendation? A really good cover you absolutely judged the book by even though we’re apparently not supposed to do that? 😂

And what makes you come back for Book Two?

Today is National Acadian Day, so here are a few things worth knowing about being Acadian:

We’ve been here for a very long time.
Acadian communities began taking root in what is now Atlantic Canada in the 1600s.

Our history includes survival.
Beginning in 1755, thousands of Acadians were forcibly removed from their homes during the Grand Dérangement, or Great Deportation. Families were separated, communities were destroyed, and many never returned.

But Acadians came back.
They rebuilt communities, protected their culture and passed their identity from one generation to the next.

Our French is ours.
Acadian French has its own accents, expressions and history. It doesn’t need to sound like anyone else’s French to be legitimate.

That little yellow star matters.
The Acadian flag carries the colours of France with the gold star of Stella Maris, traditionally associated with the Virgin Mary and a symbol deeply rooted in Acadian history.

We might be a small people. We might sometimes be overlooked.
