Welcome to our newcomers at the farm!

We had a really broody hen and our son decided to give her fresh eggs to lay on…and 21 days later five cute baby chicks hatched!

We love watching mama hen teach them how to eat and perch on her back. It is impressive how she can tuck them all under her wings!

Our son built and decorated his first hive, just in time to welcome our two new bee colonies.

We painted the other hive with flowers.

Decorating the hives differently allows the bees to locate the appropriate entrance to their respective homes.

Exciting family weekend project; constructing another flowhive for our apiary as we prepare for more bees to arrive next week.

Meet my parents: Noëlla & Raymond.

They moved from Quebec to Rossland two years ago to be closer to us. Since then, they have become such an integral part of the farm.

Noëlla developed a strong bond with the chickens. She feeds them vetch she collects on her daily walks and arranges their eggs by color.

Come lunchtime, she always has a pot of hearty soup to share.

Raymond is gifted in many trades and loves to secretly fix anything that “needs a fixin”!

He is also an exceptional berry picker.

We are so grateful to have them near and to share this adventure with them.
