If you're seeing this, drink some water! The poppies 🌺 are thriving in this heat, the humans not so much 🥵 Happy Canada day 🇨🇦

It's strawberry season! An almost finished season - I'm a little late to posting. There are lots still available locally, go get some while you still can.

The berries in the picture were washed and are drying before being turned into pie filling and some frozen berries. With all the rain this year these berries got a little muddy - nothing a quick wash can't fix. Two more flats today will become jam, preserves, and strawberry syrup 🍓.

It's important to me to eat local foods, and i walk that talk as much as I can. In the middle of winter when I'm craving the taste of summer, since I put in some extra work now I get to have sweet local berries that are cheaper and better than the grocery store. I can pull down a jar of pie filling and make amazing strawberry tarts that remind me of warmer days. Or use frozen berries in a smoothie, or some other drink of choice 🍸.

Happy strawberry season, everyone! See you for the next crop, fingers crossed there's cherries available this year
