A safer, more connected Moose Jaw.

Over the summer, the ViPER Safety Patrol members conducted foot and bicycle patrols throughout the city. As community ambassadors, they strengthened community connections, improved perceptions of safety, and helped reduce demands on police resources. Two patrol members have extended their duties into the fall.

Thanks to a $68,000 investment from the Criminal Property Forfeiture Fund, the Moose Jaw Police Service's Visible Proactive Engagement Response (ViPER) Safety Patrol pilot program is helping enhance community safety and engagement.

An additional $68,000 will be directed to the provincial Victims' Fund to support victims of crime and community programming.

Impaired driving continues to be a serious problem in Saskatchewan, and the importance of enforcement cannot be overstated.

In 2025, 210 officers removed just under 4,200 drivers from Saskatchewan roads who were impaired by alcohol or drugs. Behind every one of those numbers is a potential collision, an injured person, a family affected, or a life that could have been lost.

Impaired driving is preventable. Every driver has a responsibility to make the decision to never drive while impaired and to find a safe way home.

For police officers, impaired driving enforcement is about more than issuing a ticket or making an arrest. It is about removing an immediate threat from our roads and helping prevent devastating collisions before they happen.

Continued enforcement, education, and public awareness are essential if we want to make Saskatchewan roads safer for everyone.
