Factor Eight

Very excited to have learnt this morning that I was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award

Thank you for everyone who is part of the work I do. I’m passionate about the power of collaborative work, and in the importance of creating space for others to shine in their own way. While I spend so much of my time alone in my studio working, as so many musicians do these days, I am only able to do what I do because of some incredibly talented people.

Thank you to (visuals, design), (mastering at ), and .mov (video, film).

Thank you also to , , and for their support.

Lastly, and most importantly, thank you to you, my friend, for supporting or even quietly keeping up with the seemingly chaotic life I live in the practice of art. It truly means so much. So, thank you. 🖤

PS huge shout out to all the other nominees. Honoured to be mentioned with y’all. .daniel.pelton.collective, ,

Banff pt 2. I don’t think we quite realized the beauty power of what we were creating until it was over. I am so grateful for the group we formed, and the piece that emerged from our process and experience together — (O)). I cherish the connections, collaborations, and creations from this unique and special time. 🤍

I just spent 3 weeks as one of 30 artists from around the world as part of the Fuse Music Residency at the Banff Centre… I’m not really sure where or how to begin. It’s still settling in, but this was genuinely one of the most creatively challenging and transformative experiences I’ve been a part of.

To be real, I came to Fuse with zero expectations or desires, instead approaching the experience with an open heart. Where and how it pushed me was unexpected, and genuinely, completely changed how I now think about collaboration.

Thank you to everyone involved in creating and curating the experience, to the faculty, and to each of the participants — it was such a privilege to get to know you and work with you all. I learnt so much from all of you in our unique time together — which at times felt like years and in other ways, flew by. I’ll continue to reflect and learn as time goes on, and know that our paths will cross again.

PS this is going to be a 2 part post because I could not decide on 20 things to encapsulate the entire 3 week experience.

Hey friends, over the next three weeks I’m participating in a really unique collaborative and explorative interdisciplinary artist residency called FUSE here at the Banff Centre.

I’m so grateful, honoured, and excited to be a part of this residency among 29 other musicians and multidisciplinary artists from around the world, along with some incredible faculty, all in such unique practices including circus, projection art, acting, dance, and more.

If you happen to be around, we’ll be performing a show of what we come up with over this time together here on May 2nd. Let me know if you’re interested. :)
