“Where Vestiges Bloom” 2026 — now showing as part of the Forecast Exhibition by the Remai Modern
This wearable art ensemble is created out of paper materials: recycled magazine pages, monoprints of the weeds from my 2025 garden, and olive oil. We were asked to respond to the Remai Modern’s Forecast, an exhibition exploring how climate, environment, and weather has shaped the human experience: I was really inspired by Zachari Logan Art’s work of figures wrapped in flora’s and vegetation shown on the exhibit. It was important for me to ask myself how we as humans have played a role in shaping our environment, and the role humans still play in climate change, that ultimately all comes back to us. I created this ensemble that embraces rebirth and the return to earth; to make something that uses materials (outdated magazines, and weeds) beyond their intended purpose, will one day fall apart and hopefully disappear. Visitors are encouraged to wear the pieces as they walk through Forecast. If you come and try my piece on (please do), the coat will continuously break and rip as it’s all paper, embrace it! I will be coming in periodically to make repairs as a performance. I hope you enjoy✨❤️
Thank you to Miranda Hughes-McKnight (Miranda Hughes-McKnight) and Jenny Ryan (Jenny Ryan) for having me in this amazing project, the incredible support and resources, and giving me the freedom to run wild with my imagination. Shoutout of my fellow artists/designers who also created for this project /jonathancestnick/ and Rachel Walliser❤️ This is in collaboration with Persephone Theatre and Remai Modern.

Darling, I am a Basquiat!
So honoured to be welcomed into the Undeniable Haus of Basquiat 👑 Undeniable Haus Of Basquiat - Canadian Chapter. It was a perfect full circle moment of my Ballroom journey. The Prairie Kiki Ball - 10’s across the board! Hosted by aldeneil española at the Remai Modern for Saskatoon Pride Weekend. With the Icon Sebastio Sivuilu on the mic, a legendary panel of judges: Legendary Posh Gvasalia Basquiat, Legendary MOOHK, and Legendary Cassidy Nova Noir
It’s a month later, and I just came back from my first Main Stream Ball, The Posh Ball in Vancouver! I had to take to time to rest and recharge, but I’m still on top of the world. Two years ago, I told myself I’m going to pursue, learn about Ballroom and bring it to Saskatchewan. It took me 6 months of asking around to find partners that believed in this vision of mine and also my mentor, and now, officially my mother Ralph Escamillan Posh Gvasalia Basquiat. This led us to a year and a half long of planning, monthly workshops and open sessions to learn and prepare for Saskatoon’s First Ball ever in history!
Thank you to all the legends and icon who came to Saskatchewan to share their knowledge, we’re extremely thankful towards your generosity and mentorship. To all the friends and family who participated in SK Ballroom, WE DID THAT!! I can’t wait to continue the community we have built and keep the spirit going, you have all made me proud! This is just the beginning, and what a start. To all my closest friends, family and allies, thank you for helping me through this pursuit, with giving me perspective when needed, energy when I’m at a loss, motivation to keep me going, and loving me through the hardest times, you know who you are — I LOVE YOU! Anything can happen as long as you put your mind and heart in it✨

paraluman in — I’m grateful to have had such a wonderful time doing a three month residency with Bridges Art Movement.
Vision leads to world building, and that world is valuable because it offers an alternative point of view to our perceived normal. As a kid, I danced in the rain, now whenever it pours — I sit with emails and reports. And the self mythology continues…
Thank you to my collaborators during this period .portfolio . Thank you and .council for supporting this period of research and creation.
In the Philippines the rain is warm, warm enough that one can play in the rain… I miss that🌊

So honoured to be a part of such a beautiful moment. I designed and styled the dress to be as whimsy as a field of wildflowers. From start to finish, it feels amazing to have created with friends and the land. The fashion show was magic and made new connections with such creative people.

In this body of work, I investigate the moments in my life where resistance, ritual, and transformation persisted despite feeling like things are falling apart around me. I honour the boy who moved from the Philippines to Canada, the experience of finding new connections without borders, and most importantly, the resistance of joy. This exhibition includes work that was co-created through collaborations with people from my own community, my family, my lifelong friends, and exciting new connections.
This body of work is an exploration of the q***r immigrant experience, the fantasy of drag, and the interconnectedness of human to human and human to the earth. These ideas are explored through autoethnographic makeup prints, video performance work on hydrofeminism, and fashion sculptures that transforms my human experience.
I invite you to come and experience paraluman at Bridges Art Movements, Drinkle Mall June 18–20, Gallery Hours 1pm–5pm, for a quieter, low-stimulation time with the art. June 21 will be a matinee closing reception from 1pm–5pm with wine and snacks.
I acknowledge the generous support of .council , , and in the development of this project. Thank you for believing in my vision.
