Coming Together for a Safer & More Inclusive Saskatoon 🤝❤️

Today, members of Saskatoon’s multifaith community came together with Mayor Cynthia Block for an important and meaningful conversation about building a safer, more inclusive, and peaceful city.

Our faiths and backgrounds may be different, but our shared commitment to peace, understanding, and harmony unites us. By listening to one another, strengthening relationships, and standing together, we can help create a Saskatoon where everyone feels safe, respected, welcomed, and valued.

Multi-Faith Saskatoon Stands in Solidarity with the Jewish Community

Dear Rabbi Claudio,

On behalf of Multi-Faith Saskatoon, I want to express our deepest sorrow and unwavering support following the hateful act of vandalism against your Congregation Agudas Israel Synagogue during Shabbat services.

We are deeply saddened that members of your congregation, especially the children, had to experience such fear in a place that should always be a sanctuary of peace, prayer, and community. There is no place for antisemitism, hatred, or intimidation in Saskatoon or anywhere in Canada.

Please know that the Jewish community is not alone. We stand with you in condemning this cowardly act and reaffirm our commitment to fostering understanding, respect, and solidarity among people of all faiths. An attack on one faith community is an attack on us all.

Please convey our thoughts and prayers to your congregation. We pray for your community’s safety, strength, and resilience, and we remain committed to working together to build a city where every person can worship freely and without fear.

With prayers for peace and solidarity,

Rashid Ahmed
President, Multi-Faith Saskatoon

Celebrating Canada Day Through Unity, Diversity, and Community

Today, Rashid Ahmed President of Multifaith Saskatoon, together with Board Advisors Namarta Kochar and Om Kochar, and Board Member Noe Hernandez, had the honour of attending the Canada Day Celebration hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

The event was a wonderful celebration of Canada's rich diversity, multiculturalism, and the values that unite us as one nation. It brought together people from all backgrounds in a spirit of friendship, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to building stronger, more inclusive communities.

We were honoured to celebrate alongside the Mayor of Saskatoon, Cynthia Block, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Members of Parliament (MPs), and many community leaders, all united in recognizing the importance of diversity, inclusion, and collaboration in strengthening our nation.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for their warm hospitality and for organizing such an inspiring celebration. Events like these remind us that Canada's greatest strength lies in its people—our diverse cultures, faiths, and traditions—and that by embracing one another with respect and understanding, we continue to build a stronger, more compassionate, and united country.

Building Bridges Across Faiths: Multifaith Saskatoon at Islam Understood

Today, Rashid Ahmed, President of Multifaith Saskatoon, along with fellow Multifaith Saskatoon Advisors Mandeep Sethi, Namarta Kochar, Om Kochar and Board Members Len Rempel Noe Hernandez, attended the Islam Understood event at Baitur Rahmat Mosque.

The event provided a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment where attendees had the opportunity to engage in open and honest dialogue. Complex topics about Islam were presented in an accessible and easy-to-understand manner, making the event especially valuable for those with little or no prior knowledge of the faith.

We were also pleased to be joined by Cpt. Derek Kerr of the Salvation Army, whose participation reflected the spirit of interfaith engagement and community collaboration that made the event so meaningful.

Events like *Islam Understood* help build bridges of understanding, respect, and connection among people of different faiths and backgrounds. Multifaith Saskatoon is grateful for opportunities that foster meaningful conversations and strengthen our diverse community.
