Sometimes grief feels like sadness. Sometimes it feels like anger. Sometimes it feels like fear, guilt, confusion or loneliness.

And sometimesโ€ฆ it feels like happiness. ๐Ÿค

For kids and youth grieving a sibling, those feelings can be BIGand they don't always have the words to explain what's happening inside.

Our next Creative Grief Therapy Group for Siblings is Naming My Big Feelings, a session focused on helping kids recognize, name and express the many emotions that can come with grief.

Through age-appropriate conversation, activities and creative expression, we'll explore what different feelings can look and feel like, remind kiddos that there are no โ€œwrongโ€ emotions in grief, and practice healthy ways to express and cope with the big ones. ๐ŸŒˆ

Because our goal isn't to make the hard feelings disappear. It's to help kids understand that they are safe to feel them - and that they don't have to figure them out alone.

๐Ÿค Little Lights: Ages 4โ€“6
๐Ÿค Kindred Kids: Ages 7โ€“10
๐Ÿค Together Tweens: Ages 11โ€“14
๐ŸŒˆ Rainbow siblings are welcome, too.
โœจ Attend one session or join us for the full series.
๐Ÿ’› Free to attend.

33 families. ๐Ÿค

That's the number we want you to see first.

Because behind every dollar raised for the No Foot Too Small Memorial & Awareness Walk is the opportunity to show up for another family experiencing the unimaginable.

Right now, this community has raised enough to fully fund in-hospital support for 33 families.

33 families who can have someone answer the call.
33 families who can be met in the hospital with compassion and care.
33 families who can receive remembrance photography, memory-making support and the opportunity to honour their baby or child.
33 families who can leave knowing they don't have to navigate what comes next alone.

That's what you've done.

๐Ÿ‘ฃ 38 teams
๐Ÿค 303 registered participants
โœจ 407 donations
๐Ÿ’› $39,963 raised
๐Ÿ† Remembering Cove is holding the lead

We talk about fundraising goals because we have to - but this is what those numbers actually mean.

And we're not done yet.

Every additional $1,200 raised means another family can be fully supported in hospital. Another family met in one of the hardest moments of their lives. Another family reminded that they do not have to do this alone.

Keep sharing. Keep asking. Keep walking. Let's see how many more families we can be there for. ๐Ÿค

Before Empty Arms was a charity, a building, a team, a phone answered 24/7, a support group, or a place families could turn after the unimaginable - it was a mama grieving her baby. ๐Ÿค

September 23 was the 13th anniversary of Jaelโ€™s due date.

Jael is Jasminโ€™s daughter, and she is the original โ€œwhyโ€ behind Empty Arms. The grief of losing her - and the need to continue mothering her somehow - helped plant the very first seeds of what would eventually become this organization.

More than a decade later, Empty Arms has grown. We have walked alongside hundreds of babies, children and families. There are more programs, more people, more systems and more ways to support our community than there were in those early days.

But underneath all of it are still people.

People who have loved. People who have lost. People who carry their own stories into this work every day. And sometimes, even after years of supporting others through grief, grief has a way of reminding us that we are human too.

Today, Jasmin is sharing a little bit of hers.

๐Ÿค Read Jaelโ€™s story in this post.
๐Ÿฆ‹ If youโ€™ve ever received what felt like a sign or reminder from someone you love, share it with us in the comments.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Tell us their name. We would be honoured to remember them with you.
โ†—๏ธ Share this post with someone who may need the reminder that there is no right or wrong way to grieve.

And if you need support in your own grief, please reach out. Behind Empty Arms are real people who understand that sometimes you need resources, sometimes you need community, and sometimes you simply need another human being to sit beside you in the hard stuff.

Weโ€™re here. ๐Ÿค

โ€œI wear my heart on my sleeve because seasons change, but a grandmaโ€™s love never does.โ€ ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‚

Some love simply doesnโ€™t know seasons. It stays. Through every changing chapter, every milestone, every autumn that comes around again.

And now you can wear a little piece of that love with you. ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ’› Naming My Big Feelings | October 4

Grief can come with some really BIG feelings - especially for kids. ๐Ÿค

Sadness. Anger. Confusion. Guilt. Fear. Loneliness. Even happiness, relief, or laughter.

Sometimes those feelings show up one at a time. Sometimes they all seem to show up at once.

Our next Creative Grief Therapy Group for Siblings is all about helping kids and youth recognize, name, understand, and express the many emotions that can come with losing a sibling.

Through age-appropriate conversation, activities, games, and creative expression, participants will explore what their feelings might be telling them and practice healthy ways to move through them - with lots of reassurance that there is no โ€œrightโ€ way to feel when someone you love has died.

๐ŸŒˆ Siblings born before or after a loss are welcome.
๐Ÿค Attend one session or join us for the full series.
โœจ No previous participation required.

Groups are offered by age:
๐Ÿ’› Little Lights: Ages 4โ€“6
๐Ÿ’› Kindred Kids: Ages 7โ€“10
๐Ÿ’› Together Tweens: Ages 11โ€“14

๐Ÿค COUPLES + LOSS | IN-PERSON GRIEF GROUP THERAPY

Grief can change a relationship.

You may grieve differently. Need different things. Talk about your loss differently - or struggle to talk about it at all. One of you may want closeness while the other needs space. And sometimes, it can feel like youโ€™re trying to find your way back to each other while carrying something impossibly heavy.

On October 1, join us at Empty Arms for an in-person grief group therapy session facilitated by Breland Counselling & Consulting, focused on Couples + Loss.

Together, weโ€™ll explore how loss can affect relationships, communication, connection, intimacy, and the different ways partners experience and express grief - while making space for both individual and shared experiences.

You do not have to be grieving in the same way to grieve together. ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ“… October 1
โฐ 6:00โ€“8:00 PM
๐Ÿ“ Empty Arms
๐Ÿค Free to attend

Whether you come together or attend on your own, this session is a space to better understand grief within a partnership and find tools for navigating it together.
