One of the easiest ways to prepare for trapping is to feed only by a locked-open live trap. It allows kitty to earn trust at their own pace while making it quick, safe, and stress-free to secure them when the time comes—no chasing, no scrambling, and no worrying about other pesky passersby enjoying the free buffet.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we currently have a few complimentary spay and neuter spaces available for local barn owners and individuals caring for homeless cats.

Spaying and neutering isn't just about preventing unwanted litters. It helps reduce fighting and roaming in tom cats, lowers the risk of certain cancers and diseases, prevents needless suffering, and creates healthier, more stable colonies and barn cat populations.

Every cat fixed is one less litter born homeless. One less cat fighting for survival. One more life changed for the better.

Behind every headline and every post are animals that depended on people to protect them. They had no voice of their own.

We are absolutely devastated by the recent allegations involving FABR Rescue. The details coming to light are deeply disturbing, and like so many of you, we are sitting with a mix of heartbreak, anger, and overwhelming disappointment.

Let us be very clear the rescue community are calling for a full investigation and for charges to be laid. The animals deserve that. Accountability is not optional.

This will be the last time we speak publicly on this matter until more verified information comes to light.

We also want to take a moment to recognize PawPrints Pantry and, in particular, Liam (and those assisting him like Rhonda Leigh). Please keep in mind that Liam and Rhonda are not rescuers and this is not something they should have been left to deal with. The work they have done to bring attention to this situation took courage. The backlash received from the public has been heavy, and it should not go unnoticed. Speaking up in rescue is not easy, especially when it means standing in the line of fire. Go follow Liam and support his efforts. He deserves that. Thank you Rhonda for stepping in. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

To those commenting from the outside, until you have physically seen the level of devastation that frontline rescue workers encounter, you cannot truly speak to it. Rescue is a dark place. It is emotionally exhausting, mentally draining, and at times deeply traumatic. But let us also be clear none of that is an excuse for neglect. None of that justifies the treatment of animals or the complete lack of dignity shown to deceased bodies.

The community is speaking up because we are tired. Tired of being ignored. Tired of raising concerns that go nowhere. Tired of watching history repeat itself.

Because this is not the first time.
Not the second.
And if nothing changes, it will not be the last.

It is time for PAWS to step up, get their systems in order, and act accordingly. We are supposed to be advocating for these animals and that responsibility does not stop at the rescue level.

Enough is enough

We aren't wandering because we're lost. We aren't abandoned. We aren't looking for someone to "save" us.

We're community cats.

We were trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and returned because this is where we belong.

Our colony caretakers make sure we have food, fresh water, shelter, and love. Kind neighbours throughout our rural communities often spoil us with treats too. ❤️

The outdoors is our home. We have safe places to sleep and familiar territories to return to. Sure, we roam—that's what cats do. But 9 times out of 10, we choose to come back to the place we've always known.

Because we're spayed and neutered, we're not adding to the homeless cat population. We're not creating colonies—we're preventing them from growing while living healthy, peaceful lives.

Please don't assume we're abandoned or try to remove us. Many of us are microchipped and registered to the areas where we live. Relocating us is stressful, dangerous, and often a death sentence for cats that know no other home.

The greatest gift you can give us is simple: let us be.

We're not lost.
We're not stray.
We're not forgotten.

We're loved, cared for, and exactly where we're meant to be. 🐾💚

Because of this incredible community, two more male cats now have a brighter, healthier future. ❤️🐾

What started as two unneutered tomcats roaming from property to property has become another success story—one that wouldn't have been possible without every person who has donated their alcohol empties, pop cans, food cans, cat food, or shared our fundraising posts.

These boys are now safely neutered, which means they've been given a chance at a much healthier life. Neutering dramatically reduces fighting, roaming, and the spread of diseases such as FIV through bite wounds. It also helps prevent painful injuries, abscesses, and lowers the risk of certain reproductive cancers. Best of all, they will never contribute to the heartbreaking cycle of unwanted kittens already overwhelming our rural communities.

Every cat we help is one less litter born into a life of hunger, harsh winters, illness, and uncertainty. It's proof that small donations really do make a life-changing difference.

To everyone who has saved their empties for us, dropped off food cans, donated supplies, or simply cheered us on—thank you. You are the reason these cats are getting the second chance they deserve.

Please keep those alcohol empties, pop cans, and food cans coming! They may seem like recycling to you, but to us they become vet appointments, spay/neuter surgeries, food, and medical care for cats that have no one else looking out for them.

Together, we're not just helping individual cats—we're reducing suffering, preventing disease, and creating healthier, safer colonies for years to come.

🖤 A Heartbreaking Loss for Our Untamed Tails TNR Family 🖤

Today, our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to one of our beloved colony cats, Temptress.

We received the heartbreaking call from the veterinary clinic that Temptress had been struck by a vehicle. Her injuries were so severe that surgery was not an option, and the kindest, most compassionate decision was to let her go peacefully, free from pain.

We are incredibly grateful to the compassionate person who stopped to help her and ensured she wasn't left to suffer alone. Because of your kindness, she was surrounded by care in her final moments.

Temptress wasn't "just a community cat." She was part of our colony, part of our mission, and part of our hearts. She knew where home was, and she was loved exactly as she was. Every life we care for matters, and losing one is never easy.

Our hope is to bring Temptress home one last time so her ashes can be returned to the colony she belonged to—a final journey back to the place where she was safe, cared for, and loved.

Please keep Temptress in your thoughts tonight. Run free, sweet girl. Your watch is over, your pain is gone, and you will never be forgotten. 🌈🖤🐾

🐾 A Huge Milestone for This Colony! 🐾

Last week marked the end of an important chapter and the beginning of a healthier future for this managed colony. The final four cats needing surgery—2 females and 2 males—have now been successfully spayed and neutered! 🎉

With these last four completed, every known cat in this colony has now been altered, meaning no more unwanted litters will be born here. This is exactly why Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is so important. By preventing reproduction, we stop the cycle of suffering before it starts. Fewer kittens are born into harsh outdoor conditions, fewer cats compete for limited resources, and fewer animals end up facing injury, illness, or homelessness.

Spaying and neutering also provide significant health benefits. Female cats are protected from life-threatening uterine infections and have a greatly reduced risk of mammary cancer. Male cats experience a lower risk of reproductive cancers and often engage in fewer behaviors that can lead to injuries, such as fighting and roaming. Overall, these cats now have a much better chance at living longer, healthier lives. ❤️

This accomplishment represents countless hours of dedication, planning, trapping, transporting, and caring for these cats. Seeing the final four complete their surgeries is incredibly rewarding because it means this colony can now move forward as a stable, managed population without the constant concern of new litters being born from the same kitties, time and time again. .

While we celebrate this success, our work isn't over. This area remains a frequent target for cat abandonments and drop-offs. We are hopeful that by increasing surveillance and monitoring of the colony, we can identify and document individuals who choose to abandon animals here. Responsible management depends on preventing new cats from being added to the colony and ensuring every cat receives the care they deserve.

Today, though, we celebrate. 🎊 Four more lives improved. Countless future litters prevented. A healthier future for this colony. Here's to seeing these cats continue to thrive for years to come. 🐱💙

Providing food to community cats is kind, but feeding them while making no effort to have them spayed or neutered only contributes to the problem. Every unfixed cat can produce litter after litter, leading to more homeless cats, more suffering, more disease, and more kittens struggling to survive outdoors.

If you're feeding community cats but choosing not to address reproduction, you're not solving the issue—you're allowing it to grow. Good intentions alone won't stop the cycle. Responsible caregiving means pairing food and shelter with spay/neuter efforts whenever possible.
