"Might As Well, Eh." — The Story of Ian Fehrman, From Townsend to the ISC Hall of Fame. 08/05/2026

There is a fastball diamond in Townsend, Ontario that bears his name.

This weekend at the 80th ISC World Tournament at Bear Creek, Ian Fehrman of Townsend walks into the ISC Hall of Fame.

Three ISC World Championships in a row with the Jarvis Travellers. ISF World Champion with Team Canada in 2015, the first Canadian world title in nearly 20 years. Pan Am gold in Toronto. One of the most feared hitters and elite shortstops Canada has ever produced.

It started on community diamonds in a small town where winters meant the pond and road hockey and summers meant softball from morning until the lights came on.

He was asked what he would tell a young player in Haldimand County who wants to follow his path.

"If you aren't doing it, someone else is."

Congratulations Opie.

From Hagersville to Surrey: Reid Phibbs Is Writing His Own Chapter in a Fastball Family 08/04/2026

Reid Phibbs got a phone call this week.

It was the Napanee Express. The defending U17 Canadian champions. They needed a pickup player for the national championship in Surrey BC.

Reid said yes. Then he called his Dad.

His father Andrew Phibbs is one of the best fastball players to ever come out of Haldimand County. He pitched for the Jarvis Travellers and won ISC World Tournament titles against the best programs on the planet.

This week his son walks into a national championship as a pickup player for the defending champions.

When Reid asked his Dad for advice heading into Surrey?

"Work hard and have fun."

And what would Reid tell a younger player from Haldimand who reads this and starts believing they could do something like this too?

"Never give up, keep pushing and work hard. The best work is the work you do when no one is looking."

Haldimand County, keep an eye on this one.
