Today, Kellie, Riley — our new co-op student — and I had the privilege of attending the Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice groundbreaking ceremony.

It was wonderful to be part of such an important milestone for our community and to see the vision for this much-needed space beginning to take shape.

Congratulations to everyone at Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice, and to all of the supporters, volunteers and community partners who have helped bring this project to this point. We look forward to seeing the difference it will make for individuals and families throughout Norfolk and Haldimand.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT | Youth Unlimited YFC Norfolk

For our next Community Spotlight, we’re featuring Youth Unlimited YFC Norfolk, a local organization dedicated to supporting and encouraging young people throughout Norfolk County.

Youth Unlimited is a faith-based organization that works to help young people grow as a whole — physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually — while providing positive relationships, mentorship and a place where youth can feel welcomed and supported.

Here in Simcoe, their Youth Centre offers programming for local students, including free school lunches, after-school drop-ins, games, activities, snacks and opportunities to simply spend time in a positive and supportive environment.

Their impact extends beyond the Youth Centre as well. Through programs such as Green-N-Clean, young people have opportunities to develop practical job skills, earn community-service hours and give back to their own community.

Perhaps one of the simplest examples of their impact is also one of the most important: Youth Unlimited Norfolk reports feeding approximately 20–30 young people each week, with some youth sharing that without the program, they may not otherwise have had lunch.

At its heart, Youth Unlimited is about seeing the potential in young people, building meaningful relationships and making sure they have people and resources in their corner as they grow.

We’re fortunate to have organizations like Youth Unlimited investing their time and energy into the next generation here in Norfolk County.
