๐Ÿ“ž Tips for calling 911
When you call 911 for a medical emergency, the information you provide helps Emergency Medical Dispatchers understand the situation and determine the most appropriate response.
To help:
โœ… Provide clear information โ€” Tell the dispatcher what is happening and answer their questions as clearly as you can.
๐Ÿ“ Know your location โ€” Be ready to provide the exact address or location of the emergency.
๐Ÿ“ž Stay on the line โ€” Follow the dispatcherโ€™s instructions and donโ€™t hang up until they tell you itโ€™s okay.
With MPDS, dispatchers may ask more detailed questions. Answering these questions does not delay help. Paramedics can be dispatched while you remain on the phone.

In September 1926 the race was on to win a federal election and Perth County voters found themselves courted by visits from the two leading candidates for Prime Minister on the same day! Conservative party leader Arthur Meighen and Liberal party leader William Lyon Mackenzie King were both keen to drum up support for local candidates from the crowds that turned out to see them.

Meighen definitely had some home advantage. He was born near Anderson, in the Township of Perth South in 1874. He spent his formative years in the area and attended St. Marys Collegiate before moving to the University of Toronto, where he studied mathematics and graduated with honours in 1896.

As can be seen in this advertisement from the Mitchell Advocate, both Meighenโ€™s and Mackenzie Kingโ€™s campaigns were closely followed and reported on in area newspapers, giving Perth County residents a local perspective on the two political leaders as they tried to capture votes for candidates running to become MPs in nearby ridings.

๐Ÿ“ข Ontario is expanding support for businesses impacted by U.S. tariffs and trade disruptions.

The Province has announced expanded eligibility for two programs designed to help Ontario businesses navigate ongoing trade uncertainty:

Protect Ontario Financing Program (POFP): Provides loans to tariff-impacted businesses to help cover operating costs such as payroll, lease payments and utilities.

Ontario Together Trade Fund (OTTF): Provides grants or loans to small and medium-sized businesses looking to expand interprovincial trade and strengthen or reshore their supply chains.

Eligibility under both programs is being expanded as new U.S. trade measures affecting Canadian products take effect.

Perth County businesses impacted by tariffs or changing trade conditions are encouraged to learn more about the available supports and determine whether they may be eligible.
