🔥 Firefighter Friday Spotlight 🔥
Meet Captain Chris

This week, we're shining the spotlight on Captain Chris from our Strathroy station, who has been serving the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department since January 2011.

One of Chris's favourite parts of the job is being able to help people when they have nowhere else to turn. Whether it's responding to a serious motor vehicle collision or helping rescue a kitten stuck in the ductwork (yes, it's actually happened!), Chris takes pride in being there when members of the community need assistance most.

When he's off duty, Chris enjoys relaxing at home while watching baseball or hockey. He's also a self-proclaimed tinkerer who loves all things nerdy, always finding a new project, gadget, or hobby to dive into.

Thank you, Chris, for your dedication, compassion, and commitment to serving the residents of Strathroy-Caradoc for the past 15 years.

A couple of weeks ago, several members of the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department participated in the 2026 Western Ontario Fire Fit Relay Competition at Lambton College.

The Fire Fit Championships is a high-intensity competition based on firefighting tasks commonly performed in emergency situations. The ultimate test of firefighter fitness. Six grueling tasks based on real emergency scenarios: stair climb with high-rise pack, hose hoist, forcible entry, hose advance, and victim rescue. All while wearing full turnout gear and breathing apparatus. Success requires not only strength and endurance, but also teamwork, communication, and trust in one another.

We are proud of our firefighters for representing our department and community while demonstrating the fitness, professionalism, and dedication required in the fire service. Events like Fire Fit highlight the commitment our members make to maintaining the skills and physical readiness needed to serve our residents safely and effectively.

Congratulations to everyone who participated, and thank you for continuing to push yourselves both on and off the fireground. 🚒💪
