E-SCOOTERS IN OUR MUNICIPALITY

The Electric Kick-Style Scooters commonly known as "E-Scooters", have been gaining in popularity as a means of transportation for some people, and merely as a recreational activity for others. When we are talking about E-Scooters, we are referring to the electric powered scooter that has a platform to stand on between two wheels and a steerable handlebar.

Under Ontario law, all E-Scooters are prohibited from use on a highway, sidewalk, trail, path, or walkway or in a public park or exhibition ground UNLESS the municipality they are in has enacted a by-law to allow and regulate their use.

The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc has NOT enacted a by-law to permit the use of E-Scooters in our municipality. This means you CANNOT ride or operate an E-Scooter in any of our communities on public property.

This makes operation of an E-Scooter prohibited and those found in violation can face fines or an appearance in court.

Anyone looking for more information can access Ontario Regulation 389/19 located at this link: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/r19389

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ International Day of Peace

Today, we recognize International Day of Peace ... a reminder that peace begins with each of us and grows through the way we treat one another.

Peace isnโ€™t just about the absence of conflict. Itโ€™s about kindness, understanding, respect, and looking out for the people around us.

As a police service, weโ€™re proud to play a role in keeping our community safe, but creating a peaceful community takes all of us. A friendly conversation, checking in on a neighbour, choosing patience, or lending a helping hand can make a difference.

Today, and every day, letโ€™s choose kindness over conflict, understanding over judgment, and community over division.

From all of us at the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service, wishing our community a peaceful International Day of Peace.
