On September 23, 2023, SLShop started as a small online grocery store with just 50+ products, delivering around Metro Vancouver.
Our first shipment? One pallet from Toronto, stored in a garage.
There were no multiple outlets, no warehouses, no distribution network โ just a dream, a lot of hard work, and a belief that we could do something different for the Sri Lankan community in Canada.
Slowly, one order at a time, we grew.
From that garage and one online store in Surrey, we expanded across Canada and the USA, opened multiple outlets, built distribution points across Canada, and had the privilege of serving 100,000+ customers.
Along the way, we wanted to change the Sri Lankan grocery market in Canada โ bringing fair pricing, quality products, more choices and new flavours to our community.
Today, we are incredibly proud that SLShop has grown beyond retail to become an importer and distributor for many major Sri Lankan brands in Canada, helping bring a little piece of Sri Lanka closer to thousands of families. ๐ฑ๐ฐ
But what makes us proudest isn't how big we've grown. It's where we started, how far we've come together, and the community that made it possible.
On September 23, 2026, SLShop turns 3. ๐
