2026 was a year of firsts in coastal rowing. The four-regatta RowOn Beach Sprint Cup Series made its debut, and 142 athletes competed in their first ever beach sprints race.

Two of the series stops were in St. Catharines. The first event in June broke the Canadian record for entries in a beach sprint regatta, and the fourth and final stop in September crowned the series’ first ever Champions.

Proud RowOn Beach Sprint Cup Series sponsor HUDSON provided the solo racing fleet for these two historic regattas. We’ll be back at the beach next year, hungry for more 🦈 Stay tuned.

After introducing the Private Member’s Bill to proclaim last year, Minister Saunderson reflects on his own connection to the OUA, and why celebrating the people, experiences, and opportunities created through university sport matters.
