Today, we celebrate experience.

For National Seniors Day, we’re recognizing older Canadians and the knowledge, skills, and experience they continue to bring to their workplaces, families, and communities.

Whether it’s sharing a lesson learned over decades, lending a hand on a project, or showing the next generation how to work safely and confidently, experience has lasting value.

Happy National Seniors Day from all of us at WASIP.

Today, WASIP joins Canadians in recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

We honour residential school Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the lasting impacts on their families and communities.

May today be a time to listen, learn and reflect on our shared responsibility in the ongoing journey toward reconciliation.

Every Child Matters.

Wildlife activity is at its peak during autumn as some migrate or hit a significant milestone in their mating season.

If you see a wildlife sign while driving, proceed with caution, especially during sunrise, sunset, and the dark nights. Slow down, keep on the watch, use your high beams at night, and expect animals such as deer to travel in groups (if you see one cross, it’s likely that others will follow).

Fallen leaves, rain, and mud can make surfaces slippery and hazardous. Wearing the right footwear for the conditions you’ll be working in is essential to preventing trips, slips, and falls.

09/16/2026

Fall means leaves everywhere, including eavestroughs / gutters.

Before setting up a ladder to get things cleaned up, be sure to do proper inspection. Check for cracks, bent metal, and loose parts. And make sure the ladder is built to support your weight plus all the tools you’ll be bringing. Clear the surface you’ll be setting your ladder up on. Choose a solid and non-slip surface. And follow the 4:1 rule; 1 foot away from the wall for every 4 feet of height to the upper support point.

Once the ladder is safely set up, continue working with safety in mind. Keep three points of contact on the ladder (two hands and one foot or one hand and two feet). Do not climb while carrying bulky items in your hands; use a belt or hoist. Always face the ladder when going up and down the ladder. And never stand at the top step or cap of a ladder.

Ladder safety starts before the climb.
