Alongside the conversations taking place in our In Memoiam series, we're also diving into different art forms to further explore our emotions surrounding grief.

Maha from will be our very first arts facilitator who will guide participants on how to make their own books. This book will be the foundation on which we will begin our journey and build upon in each subsequent session. It's where we will write all our thoughts, our poetries, and house our paintings and our collages. The end result will be a beautiful and thoughtful keepsake that will serve as a manifestation of the people we're memorializing.

We're so excited to be kicking off our In Memoriam series tonight!

We're also delighted to present as our grief support worker who will be leading the conversation topics in all 4 sessions. Having run a grief focused series in the past, Empty Spaces, we're so grateful for his support and care in building our own.

Introducing *In Memoriam*

A new series where we explore grief through art and conversation: book binding, scrapbooking, poetry, and paint with the hope of having a final completed book. All conversations will be led by and we have an amazing line up of artists.

We created this series in honour of our friend and founding member, Dania Zafar. It was a way to explore our own loss and to share her legacy with others. If you’re looking for a quiet space to explore your own grief in community, we invite you to join us on this journey, navigating the initial feelings of grief and moving towards the celebration of life and legacy.

Excited to share some shots from our upcycling workshop last weekend ~

Building off our learnings from our Ethnobotany Walk, participants got hands on with learning how to turn their old clothing into functional and stylish drawstring bags! They learned basic sewing skills and were able to build + reflect on conservation methods that we can adapt to our daily lives. Did you know we have enough fabric to supply the next 6 generations??

Huge thank you to our facilitators .dialectica and who did an incredible job guiding and providing personal support despite this being their biggest workshop to date!

What a beautiful Sunday well spent with our 1st Workshop in our series, Conservation Connections, kicking us off!

Miigwech to our incredible facilitator Carolynne Crawley who shared indigenous knowledge about how to build our relationship with the land, to give back, and to feel a sense of belonging with the world around us. Turning away from corporate values, and sitting with the land beneath us using all our senses. We learned about native plants, their medicinal properties and the careful ways to harvest.

Follow to get more involved with the work Carolynne and her team have been doing at High Park for the turtle population but also in conducting nature walks for people of all backgrounds to join.

We can't wait to continue building on what we learned in our next workshop which will explore upcycling our existing clothes!

Last but not least, introducing our final facilitator for Conservation Connection, !

We're so excited for you to learn more about heirloom varieties of vegetables which are often go overlooked and under appreciated in more mainstream gardening practices. 🥕🌶🍅

This session will be followed by a little celebration to end off our series. We'll also be doing a raffle prize as well as goody bags for those who attend 3 or more sessions 👌🏽
