The Toronto Dance Teacher Expo is proud to host, Dr. Emily Ruzicka Serbin, DC, BSc, ADTA, Certified ADA, and her lecture - From Risk to Resilience: Ankle Edition. This lecture explores how dance educators can help reduce ankle injury risk and build greater resilience in dancers and acrobats through evidence-informed training and prevention strategies. Participants will gain practical tools and pedagogical approaches that can be immediately integrated into studio training.

Dr. Emily embodies health care and wellness. From a young age, she was passionate about dance and acrobatics, performing, competing, and eventually teaching. As an acrobatic dance teacher (ADT A) and choreographer for over 10 years (also certified Acrobatics Dance Adjudicator), she developed a love for educating and promoting wellness through dance.
Dr. Emily graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences and earned her Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto. She is an evidence-based chiropractor offering various treatment methods. Combining wellness, preventative care, and functional movement, she creates personalized treatment plans to meet patients goals.
Dr. Emily emphasizes proper alignment and injury prevention both in the studio and as a chiropractor. You may recognize her from presenting at the 2024 and 2025 Toronto Dance Teacher Expos. She has also served as a chiropractor for the casts of The Lion King & Juliet, and We Will Rock You, combining her unique expertise in both healthcare and performing arts. Passionate about acrobatics and tumbling, she seamlessly blends her love of dance with functional human movement in her roles as an instructor and chiropractor. Dr. Emily loves helping others achieve their health goals and is an advocate for health in her community.

On Saturday, November 30th, I celebrated the 4th anniversary of Made To Move by being honoured with the EARLY CAREER AWARD from the Ontario Chiropractic Association.

“In recognition of your demonstrated promise, achievement and commitment to the future of chiropractic in Ontario”

Two of my biggest passions are dance and Chiropractic. I love being a Chiropractor, and I am so honoured to have been recognized by a group of doctors that are leaders in healthcare in Canada.

Thank you to my Dad, my Dad’s partner Marc, and my partner Shawn for cheering me on from the audience. It was such a special day that I will never forget. Thank you to the OCA, and to Dr. Nardine Bekhit for their lovely introduction and for Dr. Emily Ruzicka-Serbin for their nomination!
