Marc Jordan

See you next week my southern Ontario friends! Tickets at www.marcjordan.com/shows or at the link in my bio.

If you’re familiar with Marc Jordan’s music, you’ve already skipped this part and are looking below to discover where he’s performing and when.

However, if you haven’t been introduced, you have a real treat in store. And, actually, despite what you might think ... you most probably do know his work.

For example, his worldwide No. 1 hit, Rhythm of My Heart. Or how about Marina del Ray, Tears of Hercules, Survival, This ... or any of a vast number of his songs recorded by the likes of Rod Stewart, Bette Midler, Joe Cocker, Chicago, Cher, Josh Groban, Diana Ross, Amanda Marshall and Bonnie Raitt, who said, “When I sing a Marc Jordan song, it’s hard to make it sound as good as when he sings it himself”,

His work has been covered on more than 35 million albums to date.

The shelves of his home groan with the weight of awards: Juno, Genie, Grammy ... industry-wide accolades, including a recent induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Though Jordan is renowned primarily as a songwriter and concert artist, he is also a painter, an actor, a playwright and has just published his autobiography: The Rhythm of My Heart. A modern-day Renaissance man.

Jordan knows the importance and impact of a good song, whether it comes from his pen or someone else’s. His delivery captures its essence and whisks his listeners off to another world.

A soft and slow rumble of a story by way of introduction ... the music begins ... the song itself begins ... you take a deep breath and are lost in the lyric, the sensibility, the magic.

“There are some voices in the Canadian musical canon that paint entire cinematic landscapes. Marc Jordan is one of those rare, essential artists,” says Record World International.

Featuring a stellar group of musicians — Jordan (vocals and guitar), Lou Pomanti (piano), Steve Lucas (bass), Kevan McKenzie (drums) and Mark Lalama (accordion and keyboards) — The Rhythm of My Heart promises a hypnotic evening of compelling vocals, where the lines between jazz and pop become blurred, and Jordan’s trademark clear, emotional and poetic delivery renders each song autobiographical.

He will be performing at the Orillia Opera House on June 11. Reserved seating tickets are $70 (plus tax, facility fees included, additional surcharges may apply), and are available from the box office. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
