If you could say something to someone navigating mental illness or addiction, what would you tell them?
Share a Hope Note today and join thousands of Canadians standing with people affected by mental illness and addiction.
Your note can offer comfort, support, and the gentle reminder someone needs to know they’re not walking this path alone. This Fall we'll be sharing Hope Note submissions received across our social pages, like the ones shown here.

What does youth mental health look like in Ontario right now?
In 2025, nearly one in three Ontario students rated their mental health as fair or poor. Almost half reported moderate-to-serious psychological distress, and more than one in four said they needed professional mental health support but didn’t seek it.
There are also signs of progress. Several indicators — including fair/poor self-rated mental health and psychological distress — improved between 2023 and 2025. But looking over the longer term, many measures of youth mental health remain substantially higher than when they were first tracked.
Understanding what young people are experiencing is an important step toward building a future where they can get the mental health care and support they need.
Want to learn how you can support youth in your life? Join us for a free Back-to-School mental health webinar and live Q&A with CAMH child psychiatrist Dr. Darren Courtney on September 25 at 12pm EDT.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.
Every day, 12 Canadians die by su***de. But it is preventable.
A gift today can help more people find care before they reach a crisis—and for today only, your support will be doubled.
Until midnight, Thomas, Large & Singer Inc. will match every gift to CAMH Foundation. That means your donation will go twice as far to advance su***de prevention at CAMH, helping turn research into better care and trusted support for people and families when they need it most.

Let's get into it - Is it dangerous to ask someone if they’re thinking about su***de?
A lot of people worry that asking the question could somehow make things worse.
In fact, asking someone directly and compassionately about su***de can open the door to a conversation they may have been struggling to start themselves.
So what should you say? And how do you ask?
Let’s get into it with Dr. Allison Crawford, CAMH psychiatrist and Chief Medical Officer of 9-8-8: Su***de Crisis Helpline Ligne d'aide en cas de crise de su***de Su***de Crisis Helpline.
If you or someone you know is thinking about su***de, call or text 9-8-8 anytime in Canada.

In advance of ***dePreventionDay, we’re sharing five important facts to challenge stigma, make conversations safer and help more people feel heard.
You don’t need to be an expert or have the perfect words to make a difference. Asking directly, listening without judgement and helping someone find support can be a meaningful place to start.
If you are thinking about su***de or are worried about someone else, call or text 9-8-8 anywhere in Canada, 24/7.
Save this post and share it with someone who may need it.

In recognition of World Su***de Prevention Day on September 10, we’re sharing stories of hope through some of life’s most difficult moments.
Francisco Garcia created hope and renewed purpose by honouring his daughters, Ashley and Bridgett.
Ashley’s goal was to become a Hotel Front Desk Receptionist and in her spare time she was an aspiring DJ.
Bridgett hoped to become a psychologist and help others with their mental health.
Bridgett died from an accidental fentanyl-tainted drug overdose in 2021 and Ashley died by su***de just over a year later.
When tragedy struck, Francisco found a way to honour their lives and carry their impact forward. He created the Ashley and Bridgett Rainbow Fund at CAMH, bringing together family, friends and people around the world to remember his daughters while raising funds to help advance mental health and addiction care.
Hope does not erase grief. But it can help us carry someone’s impact forward and ignite change in their name.
If you would like to honour someone who made an impact on your life, you can create an in-memory tribute fundraiser at: https://ow.ly/HxRr50ZHKb2
If you or someone you know is thinking about su***de, call or text 9-8-8 for support, available 24/7 across Canada.
