“Salam” is a form of recitation in memory of the Battle of Karbala which took place 1400 years ago.
Abbas Ibn e Ali was a lone warrior in the battle field who fought thirsty till his last breath, because the children in his camp didn’t have water. Even though he reached the river yet he chose not to drink a single drop before the children. He breathed his last while trying to bring back water for the poor children, a task which remained unsuccessful :(
