That awkward wall jog wasn’t going anywhere…
…so we put it to work.
A lower cabinet, floating shelves, and suddenly the builder’s little “oops” became a bar. 🍸
Sometimes good design is simply giving weird architecture a job.
This giant corner fireplace wanted to control the entire room.
We had other plans. 😏
By shifting the focal point to the TV wall, we created a layout with comfortable seating, clear walkways—and zero neck strain. 🔥
99% of you are making this mistake.
Okay, the statistic is fake. The design problem is very real. 😂
One overhead light is not a lighting plan.
Layer in lamps, sconces and softer pools of light at different heights, and suddenly your room has warmth, depth and atmosphere.
Your ceiling light can stay.
It just needs some backup. 😉
Your paint colour isn’t supposed to carry the whole room. 😬
Pick the palette first. Then choose a wall colour that actually belongs in it.
That’s how you get a room that feels cohesive instead of accidentally colour-coded.
If “it fits” is your only measurement of success… we need to raise the bar. 😬
Scale is about how each piece relates to the room — and to everything around it.
Beautiful furniture can still look completely wrong when those relationships are off.
Everything fitting in the room is a very low bar. 😬
A good layout should make it easy to move, talk, relax, watch TV, work — whatever you actually use the room for.
Fit the layout to your life. Not just the furniture to the room.
Five main characters. Zero plot. 👀
Your fireplace wants attention.
Your TV wants attention.
Your artwork wants attention.
That colourful chair is definitely not helping.
And suddenly your living room feels like everyone showed up to audition for the lead role. 😂
The fix? Pick one star.
A strong focal point gives your eye somewhere to land first, and helps everything else in the room make more sense.
Fireplace. View. Artwork. Statement wall. Media unit.
Choose the lead. Let everything else support it.
Your room does not need an ensemble cast fighting for screen time. 🎬
This is a safe space.
But if your walls have been sitting completely naked for the past three years… we do need to talk. 😂
Because sometimes a room doesn’t need more furniture.
It needs more personality.
Paint or wallpaper can set the backdrop, but the magic usually happens in layer two: art, mirrors, shelves, collections, weird little things you love… all fair game.
Your walls take up way too much visual real estate to be doing absolutely nothing.
So consider this your intervention.
Dress the walls. 👀
Turns out, the decorating superpower isn’t impeccable taste.
Or a giant budget.
Or finding the perfect coffee table. 😂
It’s having a direction… and actually following through.
Plan the room.
Make the decisions.
Buy the things.
Pull it together.
Because a beautiful room isn’t usually the result of one genius design choice.
It’s a whole bunch of good decisions, made in the right order — without reopening every single one 17 times. 👀
Direction + ex*****on.
That’s the winning quadrant.
You know what you like.
You probably even know what the room needs.
And yet somehow… you’re still looking. 😂
A slightly better sofa.
A slightly better rug.
A slightly better deal.
Then a new trend shows up and suddenly you’re questioning the thing you were completely sure about six months ago.
Meet the I’ll Get to It Decorator.
The problem isn’t taste.
It’s not even direction.
It’s that there’s always one more option to consider before you commit.
And at some point, decorating has to stop being research and start becoming decisions.
Because the goal isn’t to find the most perfect thing on the entire internet.
It’s to create a room you genuinely love.
So yes… close Pinterest.
Place the order.
And hang the damn artwork. 😂
