“One thing I appreciate about Sanctuary is our commitment to family-style meals. We don’t just hand out food; we sit together, eat together, and create space for conversation and relationship-building. Sharing a meal has a unique way of breaking down barriers. It reminds us that we all have something in common and that everyone deserves dignity, connection, and a seat at the table.
In a world where many people experience loneliness and isolation, gathering around food can be a powerful act of community. It creates opportunities for friendship, support, and belonging.” - RR

“i’ll be there” means nothing unless someone actually shows up.
for some people, having someone walk beside them to an appointment, check in afterward, or ask “what do you want for lunch?” after a hard day is not a small thing.
it’s proof that someone actually remembered.
someone actually cared.
someone actually stayed.
y’all really came through this week! 🫶
thank you to everyone who dropped off clothing for our community. we’ve received so much support and we’re so grateful for everyone who took the time to donate.
thank you for showing up and looking out for our neighbours

most people never have to wonder where they’ll leave everything they own just to make it to a doctor’s appointment.
when your life fits in a wagon, there are no locks, no front door, no safe place to come back to.
sometimes, all you have is another person saying, “i got you.”
today, trust held.
not every day does.

“i still remember the first time i walked into a sanctuary meal. i was nervous, the room was busy, and i didn’t know anyone. then someone invited me to sit down, shared a meal with me, and started telling me stories about their life. somehow, that room full of strangers slowly became my community.
i think that’s what keeps bringing me back. every week i see familiar faces i care deeply about, alongside people who are walking through those doors for the very first time. i hope they find what i found. a place where someone remembers your name, saves you a seat, asks how you’re doing, and means it.
community isn’t about having everything in common. it’s about choosing to keep showing up for each other. we’re all carrying different stories, different struggles, and different joys, but when we share life together, something beautiful happens.
that’s what sanctuary has always been for me.” ❤️
