A LETTER TO THE PEOPLE OF OMUMA LGA

My Dear People of Omuma,

Having carefully observed the political dynamics and recent developments within Etche Nation, I have come to the painful realization that there is an emerging political ploy to intentionally deprive Omuma of the opportunity to retain the House of Representatives seat currently occupied by Hon. Hon Kelechi Nwogu

Etche has been given the opportunity to produce the Senator, while Omuma has been given the opportunity to produce the Member of the House of Representatives. Having accepted this political arrangement, I cannot fold my arms and watch the House of Representatives seat being taken away from Omuma after the Senate has been ceded to Etche.

It is becoming increasingly clear that there is a political plan to prevent Hon. Kelechi Nwogu from returning for a second term. I therefore consider it necessary, in the interest of Omuma and the protection of our political stake, to return to the political family of Hon. Kelechi Nwogu with immediate effect and join forces with him to defend and achieve the mandate of the people of Omuma.

This decision is not motivated by personal interest, political appointment, or any private arrangement. I have not met or spoken with Hon. Kelechi Nwogu recently or even as I type this message. I am taking this position simply because my conscience, my understanding of the political situation, and my commitment to the interest of Omuma demand that I do so.

There appears to be a deliberate political gang-up by some interests in Etche with the intention of producing both the Senator and the Member of the House of Representatives. If allowed to succeed, this arrangement will effectively deny Omuma its rightful political representation.

I therefore call on the people of Omuma to rise above personal differences and stand firmly against any political arrangement designed to undermine our collective interest.

My attention has also been drawn to some unguided and irresponsible social media posts directed against Hon. Kelechi Nwogu by some boys believed to be loyal to certain political interests in Etche. I urge our people not to be distracted by such tactics and to also stop responding to such issues since they are calculated attempts to deprive us our right. The issue before us is bigger than individuals; it is about the political dignity, representation and future of Omuma.

It is important to remind ourselves of our political history. Apart from the late Hon. Georgeford Nwosu, the people of Omuma have had very limited opportunities to occupy the House of Representatives seat. Today, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu has provided Omuma with that opportunity. We must therefore protect what belongs to us.

What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. If Etche is entitled to produce the Senate, Omuma is equally entitled to retain the House of Representatives seat.

Let us therefore put Omuma first. Let us protect our political interest. Let us reject every attempt to take away from us what has been rightfully given to us.

I make bold to state unequivocally that Hon. Kelechi Nwogu, so far, has performed better than his predecessors. With the building and completion of schools, donation of transformers, street electrification, training of youth in different skills, empowerment of youth, and many other programmes and projects he has initiated, he really deserves a second term.

I have made my decision. With immediate effect, I return to Hon. Kelechi Nwogu, not for personal gain, but in defence of the political interest and rightful representation of the people of Omuma.

Omuma must stand. Omuma must unite. Omuma must protect its mandate.
