AN ENTIRE WORLD LIVES THERE
A forest isn’t just a collection of trees. It’s an entire living system. 🌳🦋🍄
Forests are home to about 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity—plants, animals, insects, fungi and microorganisms living together in enormously complex ecosystems.
Why does that matter to us? Because we’re part of that system, too.
Healthy ecosystems provide clean air, fresh water, food and medicines, while helping regulate disease and stabilize our climate. The more we understand how interconnected these systems are, the clearer it becomes: protecting nature is also about protecting ourselves.
When forests thrive → we thrive.
That idea of connection is at the heart of Sweat for Sustainability. Each September, Modo communities come together to use something we do for our own well-being—our practice—to help support the well-being of the planet we all share. 🌎
This year, our collective efforts are supporting and their work to restore forests and healthy ecosystems around the world.
Be part of it: take a Karma Class at your local Modo studio this September or make a direct donation to One Tree Planted: https://modo-yoga.raiselysite.com
We’re part of nature. And when we protect it, we protect each other. 💚

SEPTEMBER 21 — INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
MOVE FOR PEACE. PRACTICE FOR SOMETHING BIGGER. 🕊️🌎💚
September 21 is the International Day of Peace—a day dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace and reminding us of the role each of us can play in creating a more peaceful world.
This year, we’re marking the day the Modo way: together, on our mats.
As part of Modo Yoga’s Sweat for Sustainability campaign, we’re hosting a special Karma Class to come together as a community, move with intention and raise funds for and their work restoring forests around the world. 🌳
Because peace isn’t only about how we relate to one another. It’s also about how we care for the world we share—and recognizing that the well-being of people and the well-being of our planet are deeply connected. 🌎

THE WATER WE DRINK
The water in your glass has a connection to the forest. 💧🌲
Forested watersheds act like natural infrastructure, helping protect water quality as rain and snow move through the landscape. Maintaining and expanding forests can improve water quality and make drinking-water supplies more resilient.
Forests aren’t separate from our everyday lives. The water in your glass, the air in your lungs, the food on your plate and the climate you live in are all connected to healthy ecosystems.
Healthy forests → healthier water → healthier humans.
It’s easy to think of sustainability as something happening somewhere else. But the health of our planet shows up in some of the most basic things we depend on every single day—including turning on the tap. 🚰
That’s why this September, Modo studios are Sweating for Sustainability in support of , helping fund work that restores forests and the ecosystems we all rely on.
Every practice can be part of something bigger. Take a Karma Class at your local Modo studio this month or make a direct donation to One Tree Planted: https://modo-yoga.raiselysite.com
Protect the forests. Protect the water. Protect what sustains us. 💚

NATURE’S AIR CONDITIONING
Trees have a very cool superpower. Literally. 🌬️🌳
They cool the air by providing shade and releasing water through their leaves—a process called evapotranspiration. A review of more than 300 studies found that urban forests were, on average, 1.6°C cooler than urban areas without green space.
That difference matters. Extreme heat affects human health, air quality, energy use and entire communities. Trees are part of the planet’s built-in cooling system.
More trees → cooler communities → healthier humans.
It’s one more reminder that protecting the planet is also about protecting the places where we live—and the people who live in them. 🌎
That’s what Sweat for Sustainability is all about. Every September, Modo communities use our collective practice to give back to the planet that gives us so much.
This year, we’re supporting One Tree Planted and their work to restore forests around the world.
You can be part of it: take a Karma Class at your local Modo studio this September or make a direct donation to One Tree Planted: https://modo-yoga.raiselysite.com
