Susa Art Gallery is excited to announce a solo exhibition featuring The Observer, a ceramic installation by Iranian-Canadian artist Sanaz Fehri.

This installation consists of a collection of ceramic vessels, as thin and delicate as eggshells, formed as black and white hemispheres. Suspended and dispersed throughout the gallery space, they are arranged to evoke celestial bodies and cosmic formations through the use of light and space.

Inscribed upon some of the vessels are words that carry messages the artist has received throughout her life. The work is inspired by the artist’s experience of reading the writings of an Iranian scholar and mystic, whose ideas profoundly influenced her understanding of existence and creation.

The ceramic vessels are not only visual elements within the installation; they also become a source of sound. Live music performed in the gallery narrates the movement of celestial bodies and evokes the sounds that exist within the galaxy but remain inaudible to the human ear.

Through this work, the artist seeks to create an imagined representation of the forms, volumes, and sounds of the cosmos, while conveying a message of peace and tranquility to us, as human beings living on Earth.

At the heart of the installation is a desire to reconnect humanity with its ancient relationship to nature and to rediscover our fundamental connection to creation and to our own existence.
