If you keep your eyes open when you’re paddling the shorelines in Quetico, you might be lucky enough to find abandoned artifacts such as this one! These come from the periods before logging was banned in the park, 55 years ago.

Sad that even in places as beautiful as The Pines in Quetico, people still litter... ☹️

The Pines is now open for day trips only. You can hike our trails or canoe the Pickerel River. Please do not go beyond it at this time.

Next time you visit, think about what you're leaving behind.

While our staff work very hard to keep Quetico clean, sometimes the litter at our destination beaches is more than we can keep up with.

Keep track of your trash and make sure it ends up in the garbage!

A huge shout out to the Quetico park staff who keep the portages clear! I was really bushed on a recent portage because of a long, muddy section preceding the typical portage due to low water levels. When I finally got to the portage proper, I was VERY happy to see a bunch of downed trees cleared & many obstructing branches trimmed! Thank you for all the work you’ve done making the lives of trippers that much easier! 👏🤠

If you look closely, this little gal seems to be smiling as she basks in the warm sun! I wonder if she was hatched from one of the boxes put in place by The Quetico Foundation's Summer Research Team? Only she knows for sure!

Earlier this summer members of the Quetico Foundation Summer Research team hand built a set of turtle egg protection boxes. Since that time, all the boxes were put into action, and the team has now started emergence surveying to determine if the eggs hatched. This is another tangible way our efforts help to protect wildlife here in Quetico!
