Earlier this week, Chief Superintendent Andy Singh joined members of the Jewish Security Network (JSN) in the JSN’s Integrated Security Operations Centre.

Having a Toronto Police Service officer in the integrated security operations centre during the holidays and other times of increased community concern can strengthen communication and information-sharing between police and the community. This is just one component of broader work underway and increased police visibility across the city to support community safety.

When an 8-year-old boy went missing, an Auxiliary Officer was among those who stepped up to help.

Working alongside family, friends, patrol officers, the canine unit and Air Support, they helped search the neighbourhood until the child was safely located.

Chief Myron Demkiw joined Metrolinx CEO Michael Lindsay at Union Station yesterday to discuss ongoing work to enhance safety at Canada’s busiest transit hub.

Over the past several months, Toronto Police and Metrolinx have been working together to establish a permanent police presence at Union Station, including dedicated space for TPS officers.

This builds on the increased police presence already underway at Union — with Metrolinx special constables working alongside TPS officers — and is part of our broader work to enhance safety and the sense of safety across the transit system.

An enhanced visible and consistent police presence helps us respond quickly when needed, build relationships with transit partners and the public, and help people feel safe as they travel through the city.
