Amadeusz

Meet Gabriella, one of the 2026 Amadeusz Scholarship recipients! 🌟

Gabriella is currently studying Real Estate at Humber College, and this was a very intentional choice. She shares that, “Becoming a real estate agent has been a goal of mine for a long time because I love the idea of helping families find a place they can call home while building a successful career for myself.” Gabriella knows that it will take hard work to complete this program, but is more than ready for the challenge! She shared, “I know success won’t happen overnight, but I’m willing to put in the work because I believe in the future I’m creating.” While she is grateful for the financial support that the Amadeusz Scholarship provides, she shares that it is more than this; “Receiving this scholarship would mean so much to me. It would help remove some of the financial stress and allow me to focus on completing my education. More than that, it would be a reminder that people believe in second chances and in students who are determined to overcome adversity.” Amadeusz will always be here to cheer you on, Gabriella!

We’re pleased to share that Sheena Blake Brown has been appointed Interim Executive Director of Amadeusz.

In her letter, Sheena shares a few words about this next chapter and her continued commitment to the work of supporting people in remand custody.

Please join us in welcoming Sheena into this role!

Meet Niles, one of the 2026 Amadeusz Scholarship recipients!

Niles is excited to be starting in the Carpentry and Renovation Technician program at Conestoga College this fall! This is the perfect program for him, and he shared, “I’m hoping to gain lots of new skills as well as improve on those that I developed back in high school where my passion for woodworking began.” He shared that the Amadeusz Scholarship is the first scholarship he has applied for, and how surprised he was when he found out he received it. But this scholarship is not just for him; he wants to use it to give back to those who supported him and his community. That’s what Amadeusz is all about... Supporting others in creating change not only in their own lives, but in their communities too!

Meet Tola, one of the 2026 Amadeusz Scholarship recipients! 🌟

Tola is currently enrolled in the Plumber Pre-Apprenticeship program at Skilled Trades College. He shared that his post-secondary education, and the career that will follow, will provide him with a fresh start. “I am motivated and I hope my future reflects not where I’ve been but how I persevered and made efforts for a better life.” How does he feel about receiving the Amadeusz Scholarship? “This is a reminder that my efforts are supported by the community and I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. I hope the success I attain will inspire others in similar situations that it’s never too late for a fresh start.” Amadeusz is grateful to be a small part of Tola’s journey to this life that he is working hard to build!
