Removed a tree without a permit? You may be required to replant five trees for every one you removed
Under Toronto’s rules, you may be required to replant five trees for every one removed. Starting September 1, 2026, replacement requirements can increase based on the diameter of the tree.
If you’re not sure whether you need a permit or what the replacement requirements are, it’s better to check before the work starts.
