Laugh of the Day: The Best and Worst Ways to Carry Your Valuable Camera Gear (VIDEO) Photographers tend to be very particular about the bags, straps and holsters they use to carry their gear, and some of us have a veritable “bag mountain” somewhere in our home. It's nice to know how Ansel Adams came up with the Zone System. This is one of the methods that should still be be taught and followed even with the digital cameras and various editing tools.

These are Ansel’s’ key points that you can practice to continually improve your photography:

1. Look at the external event, and then visualize what you want it to look like, clearly and decisively.
2. Try to make the photograph of what you saw and felt.
3. Train yourself to see what the camera sees by comparing what you see, with what it looks like in the camera.
4. Practice your craft and do your homework so you can make the photograph you desire by going through these steps to capture what you visualized.
5. Placing the camera: Find the best point of view of the lens.
6. Make a proper lens selection.
7. Decide on your depth of field and set your aperture.
8. Control your exposure and later, the development.

All of the topics are good. Just one item that I disagree on. You can hand hold until 1/30th. Of course, you'll need steady hands for this. Using this setting creates nicer backgrounds specially on dark situations. Most times, this risk has rewards. Try it and see for yourself.
