Get in the way of barriers to inclusion β€οΈπ€
On September 10, 2026, we kicked off our annual United Way Fundraising Campaign with two community initiatives across Toronto.
π Our United Way Caravans hit the road early morning, travelling across our locations to deliver gift packages and spread some cheer. And, of course, the Great Community Lemonade Stand made its return, bringing people together while raising funds for a great cause. π
And this is just the beginning! Over the coming weeks, weβll be hosting even more events and activities in support of United Way Greater Toronto and their work to help people access essential supports, overcome barriers, and build stronger futures. Stay tuned! π
π Home is more than a place to live.
For Brenda, Nicole and many others, it means having a place of their own, being part of a community and having the opportunity to live life on their terms. Their experiences show whatβs possible when supports independence, connection and belonging. But too many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are still waiting for a home in their community.
Our new policy paper, Power of Place: Living Spaces, Thriving Lives, looks at how modernizing Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) mortgage policy could help unlock more inclusive housing options across Canada.

β³οΈ What a day on the course! On September 9, 2026, we hosted our 3rd Annual End of Summer Golf Classic at Glen Eagle Golf Club.
In collaboration with Corbrook, we raised an incredible $100,000! The funds will support learning technology for Corbrookβs day programs and excursions, as well as unforgettable experiences at Shadow Lake Centre.
We were also honoured to have Minister Michael Parsa join us for the day and share a few words with our golfers.
A huge thank you to our Event Chair, Hassnane Sajan, CEO of Darts Solutions Inc., and to all the amazing golfers, sponsors and supporters who made this day possible! ππ

Our Day 2 at started with an update from MCCSS featuring Amy Olmstead, Director, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, and of course, more great sessions, and opportunities to connect and exchange ideas. π‘
π One highlight was a session led by our own Mary OβHearn, alongside Angela Bradley and Ann-Marie Binetti, exploring what it takes to move from representation to authentic inclusion of people with disabilities in leadership roles. They also introduced a practical toolkit to help organizations put those ideas into action: https://www.everyoneatthetable.ca
We also explored how AI could support developmental services by reducing administrative work and strengthening staff capacity while keeping privacy, human judgement, and dignity at the centre.
A big thank you to Community Living Ontario for another great conference, and to everyone across the sector who came together to learn, share, and connect. Until next time! π
