Superframe offers custom archival framing with a mandate to enhance and protect artwork but not compete with it for attention.

Superframe was launched in 2004 by Mitch Robertson as an arts focused frame shop. We work with artists, galleries and collectors, from large scale exhibitions to individual works. We offer custom archival framing with a mandate to enhance and protect artwork but not compete with it for attention. Our large selection of mouldings include contemporary solid woods, both commercially–made and custom-milled, as well as a wide range of historical styles. We offer an experienced opinion on what suits the work but always let you choose something you are comfortable with, both in terms of aesthetics and price. We are open Monday to Friday and prefer to meet by appointment to give you our undivided attention.

Woodworker Aviv carefully staining oak pedestals, which will then be sprayed with a semi-gloss black lacquer finish. Applying the stain first, ensures that the pigment penetrates the wood grain to showcase it.

Sometimes we take a break from framing to give the dogs alley treats.

Framing Fund recipient Jacob Irish's show "a month of stolen light" is on now at SCaM Project Space until September 6!

In this exhibition of sculptures and works on paper, Jacob used the award funding to frame 2 diptychs. Two pen and ink drawings framed with an iron acetate solution on ash to mirror the wood of an aged cedar fence. And two pencil drawings framed together with a stain gradient from yellow to green.

We are so pleased to have been a part of this wonderful exhibition! Congratulations Jacob!

Framing Fund recipient Jacob Irish's show "a month of stolen light" opens at SCaM Project Space in Toronto tonight!

Jacob came to us with a clear and original idea for his custom stained frames. One colourful, two-tone frame and two darker frames that were stained with a homemade iron acetate solution, which was a mix of steel wool dissolved in vinegar.

We love working with our Framing Fund recipients who bring us new techniques and challenges!

Congratulations Jacob on your show!
