In the spirit of many Canadian artists, I am a painter who is passionate about creating a unique, contemporary expression of light, colour, shape and texture. I am inspired by the sense of balance and design I discover in creation and I am intrigued by the seemingly infinite variety of lines, spaces, shapes and vibrant colours I discover there. My method is to take several photographs of a subject, after which I return to my studio to transform the scene into an abstracted and transfigured composition. I want the viewer to be excited by the textures, colours and shapes in my paintings. To create varied surfaces, I often use a mix of natural and created materials, including modelling paste, gels, silica sand, and photo and stencil inserts with acrylic or oil paint. More than a love of colour and a passion for design, my paintings embrace a sense of spirituality. The concept of ‘flourishing’ and what it means to thrive in life is a prominent theme in my artwork - contemporary artwork for a transfigured state of being.

You don't need an art history degree to build a meaningful collection or to know what you like.

You need a wall, a little patience, and a willingness to trust what pulls you in.

"Georgian Bay Connected-Water, Sky and Forest" is a good place to start, as is my online gallery.

Église Notre Dame des Pins, Québec

“Église Notre Dame des Pins, Québec” is an exceptional piece that exudes vibrancy and profound emotion. Measuring 16 inches high by 16 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep, this acrylic and resin on canvas composition captures the viewer’s imagination with its stirring depiction of a red-bricked church standing tall with a magnificent steeple amidst a lush, green environment.

The dynamism of this artwork lies in its background. The sky is an explosion of fiery colours, swirling patterns of red, orange, and yellow, and hints of green imbue the scene with an intense and energetic atmosphere. These bold, undulating lines come together to evoke a sense of movement and life as if the very air is charged with divine energy.

Before you think about color or size, ask a simpler question: how do you want to feel when you walk into the room? Calm? Energized? Grounded?

What feeling are you chasing in your space right now?

"Fighting Dragons Nebula" is proof that the right work can answer that question before you've even consciously asked it.

Today's design reminder: one of the easiest ways to create a cohesive space is by paying attention to tone rather than theme.

A warm wood frame paired with warm wood floors, or artwork with cooler tones in a room that already leans cool, can instantly make a space feel more intentional.

Nothing has to match perfectly. Wood grains don't need to be identical, and neither do the colors throughout your room. Simply deciding whether your space feels predominantly warm or cool is a great place to start.

And don't be afraid to mix in the opposite tone here and there. A little contrast often adds the interest that makes a room feel complete.
