You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have it all figured out either. Here’s the truth behind all 8 👇
1. You have to be perfect.
Nope. Jesus said it’s the sick who need a doctor, not the healthy (Mark 2:17). Perfect people wouldn’t need a Saviour.

2. Christians never doubt.
A desperate dad told Jesus, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24). Jesus helped him anyway. Doubt you bring to God is still faith.

3. Following Jesus makes life easy.
Jesus promised the opposite: “In this world you will have trouble.” Then: “But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). It’s a lifeboat, not a cruise ship.

4. You have to clean yourself up first.
“While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Come as you are. Cleaning up is God’s job, not your entry fee.

5. Jesus was a soft-spoken pushover.
He made a whip out of cords and flipped tables in the temple (John 2:15). Gentle? Yes. Doormat? Not even close.

6. You’re not allowed to question God.
Psalm 13 opens with “How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?” That’s in the Bible on purpose, along with many others like it. God can handle your questions.

7. Going to church makes you a Christian.
Standing in a room doesn’t give you a relationship. Jesus said it’s about living according to the Father’s will, not just calling him “Lord” (Matthew 7:21). So come to church; just don’t leave Jesus there.

8. It’s too late for me.
Paul used to hunt Christians down. He later called himself the worst of sinners, and said God showed him mercy precisely to put His patience on display (1 Timothy 1:15-16). If there was room for Paul, there’s room for you.

There’s a king in the Bible whose heart God called completely faithful. Then the text spends a whole chapter on everything he got wrong.

King Asa spent 35 years purging every idol in his kingdom. Then he bribed a pagan king instead of praying when trouble came. Got a serious illness and called his doctors before he called God. Got confronted by a prophet and resisted the correction instead of taking it.

And scripture still says his heart remained completely faithful his whole life.

Here’s the word study that changed how I read that. “Completely faithful” is translated from the Hebrew word “shalem”. It doesn’t mean sinless. It means *undivided*. Asa wasn’t flawless. He just never stopped turning back to the same God, even in the middle of blowing it.

If you’re carrying guilt this week because you didn’t measure up, that’s not the bar. You were never asked to string together perfect days. You were asked to stay undivided. To keep coming back to the same God, even after the bad week, even after the thing you’re ashamed of.

Yesterday doesn’t disqualify you from today.
