DIGITAL STORYTELLING AND ARCHIVING TIBETAN YOUTH @ GALLERY 1313 Sept. 16-27 1313 Queen St. West

Gallery 1313 is pleased to host this exhibition especially in Parkdale with its Tibetan Community

his exhibition showcases works that were created by Tibetan youth who participated in “Digital Storytelling and Archiving,” a 2-month long summer arts intensive created by Made in Exile, a community arts organization based in Toronto, dedicated to supporting Tibetan youth navigating exilehood. Dru is the Tibetan word for seed. Our hope is this program has planted the seeds for a new generation of youth born in exile to practice agency in their own documentation and storytelling.
Works in this exhibition were created by Tenzin Desal Amji, Jordhen Nyanang, Lakedhen Nyanang, Tenzing Yengsel, Tenzin Norgyal, Tenzin Migmar, Tenzin Tsungmey, and Tsepella.
The variety of media employed by the program participants reflects the various foundational workshops, led by local Toronto artists,that helped to explore their artistic visions and strengthen their storytelling abilities.

Tenzin Desal Amji’s photo series, Jordhen Nyanang’s film, Lakedhen Nyanang’s documentary, Tenzin Yengsel’s video, Tenzin Norgyal’s photo collage, Tenzin Migmar’s photo series, Tenzin Tsungmey’s self portrait and Tsepella’s short documentary all explore various Tibetan experiences in exile, from the sublime to the quotidian, and the deeply personal to the universal.

Main Gallery : Lost and Found works by Tessa Griffin Reception Sept. 17 6:30pm
Lost and Found is a solo exhibition of paintings and mixed media works by Tessa Griffin that span years of practice, observation and reflection. The pieces chart an ongoing inquiry into process and human behaviour.
The title holds a double meaning. These works were made across a period of interruption – time away from the studio, followed by a deliberate return. What emerges is not a record of absence, but of what persists: the questions a painter returns to, and the new ones that arrive after a long pause. The exhibition is, in this sense, a kind of reckoning with time, with process, and with the accumulated life of a body of work.

Cell Gallery : Between Two Worlds Works by Ali Ghavipisheh
Between the Worlds is a solo exhibition of paintings and mixed media works by Ali Ghavipisheh, exploring the space between the visible and the unseen, the physical world and the inner landscapes we carry within us. Through figurative imagery, abstraction, movement, and symbolism, the works consider how perception, memory, emotion, and energy shape the realities we experience.
At the heart of the exhibition is the idea that reality is not simply something we observe, but something we continuously participate in creating. The works move between presence and absence, stillness and motion, the tangible and the imagined — inviting the viewer to consider the subtle relationship between our inner state and the world that takes form around us. Between the Worlds ultimately asks where one reality ends and another begins, and whether the boundary between them is ever as fixed as it appears.

A new start to Sept. with some great Italian hospitality from the Italian Art Collective . The group exhibit The Parkdale Biennial was successful with a diverse range of work and there was a great video install in the Cell . Another great evening at Gallery 1313.
