My dad wasn't at my wedding.

But in this moment, I found myself looking up at his tallis (prayer shawl) draped above us on our chuppah.

My father passed away years before I got married, and including his tallis in our ceremony felt like a way to carry a piece of him with me on one of the most important days of my life.

One of the things I love most about weddings is the way we honour the people who helped shape us. Sometimes they're sitting in the front row. Sometimes they're represented through a family heirloom, a tradition, a song, or a quiet moment of remembrance.

Love doesn't end when someone is gone. It lives on in the stories we tell, the traditions we carry forward, and the milestones we wish we could share with them.

This Father's Day, I'm thinking of all the fathers and father figures who are deeply missed but never forgotten. 🤍

The last time I did an introduction here, there were fewer than 300 of you following along. So if you're new, hi I'm Fay.

I'm the woman behind Events by Fay, and the biggest compliment I can receive is being trusted with someone's wedding day.

What many people don't know is that wedding planning wasn't my first love. I went to school for musical theatre and spent years immersed in storytelling, emotion, and creating moments that made people feel something. Eventually, I realized that while the stage would always have a place in my heart, there was another kind of magic pulling me in. A little more behind the scenes, out of the spotlight, a supporting role of sorts.

Wedding planning.

Not because of the trends, the extravagance, or the pressure to have the "best" wedding.

Because of the people.

The grandparents seeing their grandchild walk down the aisle. The best friends who have been there through every chapter. The quiet moments before the ceremony. The overwhelming joy of having everyone you love in one room.

I've always believed weddings aren't performances. They're celebrations of connection, family, community, and love. The flowers, candles, and pretty details are wonderful, but they're never the reason we're all there.

Getting to help create those moments is something I will never take for granted.

So whether you've been here since day one or just found this little corner of the internet, thank you for following along, supporting my business, and trusting me with some of life's most meaningful celebrations.
