Ever wish class felt less like drilling combinations and more like actually dancing? This one does.

Step into the world of Romeo & Juliet and spend the term learning and performing an excerpt from this romantic ballet, set to Prokofiev’s unforgettable score. It’s not a regular technique class, think of it more like a rehearsal. You’ll take everything you’ve been building in your technique classes and finally get to use it: move with intention, tell a story, and work with your classmates to bring a real piece of rep to life.

Each class starts with a ballet warm-up at the barre, then moves into centre work built to develop the musicality and patterning you’ll need for the choreography. We’ll also play music from the ballet throughout class to help set the mood and get you into the Romeo & Juliet spirit before diving into rep.

Come ready to fall in love with the ballet.
(Spoiler: no deaths at the end! 💀🚫)

📍 Open to all levels. Gentlemen welcome. Pointe shoes optional.

Let’s start there.

GrantLab is a two part online program (total 12 weeks) for artists who want to resource the work they are imagining and build a creative life capable of sustaining it.

Because ambitious art takes time. It takes people. It takes space, money, relationships, administration, courage, failure, revision, and the capacity to keep going.

And grants are rarely immediate. You will wait months, years even, between imagining a project, applying for funding, receiving a decision, and actually beginning the work. One grant may become the foundation for another. A municipal grant might allow you to begin. Provincial or federal support might help the work grow. A project that feels audacious today can become possible through a series of thoughtful steps taken over several years.

So: what do you actually want to make?

GrantLab begins with the artist and the vision, not the application form.

Together, we move through artistic identity, statements, biographies, project development, work plans, collaborators, budgeting, support materials, revision, submission, fundraising, financial stewardship, agreements, professional structures, and sustaining a life in the arts.

We will also make room for the things that rarely appear in grant-writing workshops but profoundly affect our ability to create: intuition, mindset, boundaries, relationships, rejection, failure, rest, pleasure, discernment, and knowing when to keep going.

This isn’t about becoming better at bureaucracy.
It’s about becoming more articulate about what you already know.

Your art matters. Your strange idea matters. Your impossible project matters.

Let’s give it language.
Let’s give it structure.
Let’s figure out what it costs.
Let’s find the resources.

And then let’s make the art.

Are you competition ready?! 🏆

With Prix du Canada taking place on September 20th, these final three Friday sessions offer dancers a chance to run their competition variations in a supportive, open-studio setting with Riho Ogata. Each dancer will take turns performing their variation and receiving feedback, helping to build confidence and performance readiness in the last stretch before the competition.
This session is open to competition participants, as well as non-competitors who would like to practice a specific variation they’re working on. Dancers are welcome to practice in costume if they’d like.

Please note: this is a practice space, NOT a choreography-learning session — dancers should already know their variation before attending.
