Serving a community of approximately 125,000 people in San Antonio, just outside Asunción in Paraguay, the local fire department responds to several grass and wildland fires every month as urban areas meet surrounding forested land.

Led by Fire Service President Mirtha, the department had a 13-year-old truck that was no longer functioning as a firefighting vehicle after its water tank suffered a major leak.

Through GlobalMedic’s fire skid program, the department received a fire skid unit that will be installed into the truck, giving it a second life as a rapid-response wildfire vehicle. Equipped with a 1,000-litre tank, pump, and hose system, the unit will help firefighters reach smaller roads and respond more effectively to grass and wildland fires.

By repurposing existing vehicles and providing practical equipment, GlobalMedic is helping departments like San Antonio better protect their communities.

With firefighting equipment costs rising, donations are especially important for rural volunteer departments across Prince Edward Island.

GlobalMedic donated flame-resistant coveralls and fire skid units to help volunteer firefighters respond to grass and wildland fires across PEI. The lighter coveralls provide a more practical alternative to heavy structural turnout gear while still protecting firefighters.

Gerard McMahon, District Deputy Chief with Charlottetown Fire Department and President of the PEI Firefighters Association, highlighted how valuable this support is for departments facing growing equipment costs.

GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team returned to the Shree Chandra Jyoti Secondary School in Nuwakot, Nepal, alongside Volunteer Corps Nepal, to distribute 150 mattresses to families displaced by the recent flash flood.

Many families have been sleeping without proper bedding while staying at the school. The thick mattresses provide a little more comfort and support as they look to recover and rebuild.

GlobalMedic remains committed to supporting displaced families with essential supplies when they need them most.

After experiencing two wildfires pass through the community in just two years, the Niobe Lake Fire Department is working to strengthen its ability to respond quickly.

GlobalMedic donated a fire skid to the Niobe Lake Fire Department, giving its 12-member team a more mobile firefighting option. With smaller vehicles, firefighters can reach areas that larger trucks cannot, improving access and response times during wildfires.

Fire Chief Matthew Eady shared his appreciation for the donation and how it will help the department better serve its community of approximately 1,500 residents.

GlobalMedic is proud to support rural fire departments with the equipment they need to protect their communities.

Food insecurity is rising rapidly across Canada, and community organizations like the Kamloops Food Bank are working tirelessly to make sure families have food on their tables.

To help support that effort, GlobalMedic recently shipped nearly 30,000 pounds of McAntony’s Menu items to Kamloops, BC, the equivalent of a full truckload, or 24 skids of food aid.

This delivery wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of FedEx, who helped transport the shipment across the country. GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team was in Kathmandu, Nepal, training our partners at Volunteer Corps Nepal (VCN) on the use of our AquaResponse 3 water purification unit.

The AR3 is designed to treat contaminated water and provide safe drinking water for communities affected by disasters. Our team shared hands-on training with VCN to ensure they understood how to operate and install the unit effectively in locations where clean water is urgently needed.

By sharing knowledge and building local capacity, GlobalMedic is helping ensure sustainable access to clean water in the aftermath of disasters.

The Shree Chandra Jyoti Secondary School is currently home to hundreds of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who were forced from their homes by the recent flash flood in Nepal.

GlobalMedic’s Rapid Response Team was assessing a location at the school to install an AquaResponse water purification unit, brought from Canada with the support of our partner, Airlink.

The unit will help provide displaced families with access to safe drinking water as they navigate the aftermath of this disaster.

Skilled crews are hard at work building our new special operations unit, installing wiring, insulation, and structural components that will soon come together as a fully enclosed emergency response vehicle.

Once complete, this space will be designed to adapt in real time. It can be outfitted as a mobile food bank, transformed into a primary healthcare or mental health clinic, or used as a command post to support drone operations and field teams during emergencies.

Built by local experts at Innovative Trailer Designs in Ontario, this project strengthens GlobalMedic’s emergency response while also creating and sustaining Ontario jobs. It’s a powerful reminder that when we invest locally, we build tools that help communities when they need it most.
