IBEW Local 353 represents approximately 11,500 members who work in a variety of electrical disciplines. IBEW Local 353 members work to a Code of Excellence.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 353 is a forward thinking, highly skilled, and dedicated electrical union. IBEW Local 353 represents over 11,000 members who work in a variety of electrical disciplines and who work across central Ontario, spanning from Toronto to Peterborough to Parry Sound. Established in 1903, IBEW Local 353 has since been successfully representing licensed electricians and registered apprentices in the construction industry. Today, the IBEW remains a hard working organization of top-notch electricians and like-minded professionals committed to benefiting towards the integrity of our industry. Our code of excellence is designed to instill a sense of pride and professionalism in our membership. This attitude demonstrates to our employers and customers that IBEW Local 353 is synonymous with excellence – its success demands that members demonstrate teamwork on the job and project a good attitude in regards to the work we do both on and off the job. IBEW Local 353 is dedicated to bettering the lives of our members and the teams of accomplished contractors we work with, and we are working to bridge the gap between contractors and members’ relations. We uphold the highest standards for training and education as well as workmanship quality in the electrical field.

Visit www.labourcouncil.ca and follow the council on socials . Among the Toronto endorsements are two more endorsements for York Region Trustees .

Check your mailboxes ! . Ballots and Election Publication were sent in one package for this election . If you have not received a package by the end of this week please contact the election judge .

Ballots are due back to Canada Post by 4:30pm sharp on June 26th . The counting of the ballots will take place June 29th at the Lawrence Hall .

Local 353 members : log in to the secure side of the local 353 website for information regarding the upcoming local union election . The election judge has posted the 2026 election rules . Nominations will be taken at the North , East and South unit meetings May 5,6,7th .

At 11am today . Pause , Reflect , Remember . Honour workers who have died , been injured or become ill from their jobs . Every worker deserves to go home safe at the end of the day . We must be tireless in continuing to make workplaces safer for everyone .

Low Rise Members ! By now you will have received the meeting notice in the mail . A robo call also went out to bring attention to the call of this meeting . Registrations for this meeting close at 4:30pm on April 17th . The meeting will be hosted by DOTS ( same company that ran the SCM in March ) . The QR code will take you right to a registration page or log into the secure side of the IBEW Local 353 website .

COBT day in support of the Hammer Heads Program program . Saturday May 2 . 1pm kickoff at BMO Field . Tickets are electronic ( delivery straight to your phone ) . For tickets ( no charge ) email [email protected] with your name , card number , and number of tickets( limit four per member ) . Use the mail associated with your Ticketmaster account .

Thank you to all who participated in today’s Special Called Meeting on Zoom . 1026 members registered with 806 members logging in and creating voting accounts on DOTS ( Dots Connect online voting service ) . All five ballot questions passed .

Vote 1 : Carried 76.37% ( In favour 514 , opposed 159 , abstain 12 ).

Vote 1a ( Communication Sector only ) : Carried 82.14% ( In favour 23 , opposed 5 , abstain 0 ) .

Vote 2 : Carried 81.3% ( In favour 561 , opposed 129 , abstain 9 ) .

Vote 3 : Carried 82.1% ( In favour 564 , opposed 123 , abstain 11 ) .

Vote 4 Carried 75.44% ( In favour 519 , opposed 169 , abstain 11 ) .

Vote 5 : Carried 82.25% ( In favour 570 , opposed 123 , abstain 13 ) .

Another reminder to register for the online / virtual vote on your pension and health & welfare funds . The presentation with information on both funds , and a full description of the votes being conducted , are on the secure side of the website . To log on to the virtual meeting you must register by March 20th / 4:30pm . Virtual meeting will start at 8am on March 22nd .
