I have a seen a few signs of fall this week - cooler temperatures and some changing leaves. I’m sure we will see a few more days of summer before autumn settles in for good.

This piece reflects how I am feeling this morning on Lake Wanapitei. I love this shape of canvas, we all have tall skinny walls that would be perfect for this size piece.

Maybe using three primary colours isn’t enough… so I will take another look at this when I am home from holiday. I’m happy to show you that I’m using my favorite brands; Holbein, Liquitex, Caran D’ache, Windsor Newton and Stoneground.

Making Connections 36 x 36

Hello Muskoka! Oxtongue Craft Cabin and Gallery are getting a new batch of little 6 x 6 paintings.
Each piece inspired by summers at the cottage. Perfect gift, perfect souvenir.
These 4 are all painted on cradled birch panels, the image continues around the edges of the panel. Because they’re little I sign them with only my initials, EaL. Still the same artist!

This particular visit to Lake Wanapitei was very inspirational. I don’t often paint landscapes, but this island was hard to resist. It measures 36 x 48 inches and was a pleasure to create. And I’m certain there will be more to follow.

Last week I took a trek outside to paint in my backyard. This 36 x 48 painting is from my first visit to Wanapatei Lake. What a beautiful place. This is a WIP - Stay tuned for the finished piece. I might have to finish it in my studio.
I am so grateful to Matthew Plexman for taking me there.

Alfie’s was a dive bar on Queen St E that closed a few years ago. I never had the courage to go inside, and I guess neither did these characters hanging out front. Or maybe the doors hadn’t opened yet. The stories about Alfie’s are legendary.
