Introducing our MCs for the night, Nliten and Augumon!

Bboy NLiteN grew up in KW and has been breaking for 5 years. He loves breaking the dance community as a whole. He is also one of the co-founders of the crew “KWB”.

Bboy Augumon from Binnez as Usual started breaking in Vancouver BC for over a decade. He cares about bringing up the vibes and creating an energy that tears down the roof! Type shiii✌️

Back for the second time, we’ve got M4RS providing the tunes and vibes all night!!

Marius aka DJ M4RS is part of the 2U4U collective and is originally a bboy part of the Bag of Trix crew. His relentless passion for music eventually spawned into the DJ territory in 2011. Since then, he has become a household name for dance battles, playing for breaking, poppin, locking, hip hop, and all-styles for all the major festivals and high profile events in Canada such as Redbull BC One, VSDF, Bastid’s BBq, Chillin’ and Grillin’, Freestyle Session, UBL, MTL Grafitti Festival, U.N.I.T.Y., MANIFESTO, and countless others. Outside of competitions M4RS regularly plays for any kind of party, from clubs to corporate, from raves to weddings, festivals to backyard BBQ’s, always seamlessly blending and scratching his way through genres, tempos and musical eras, mashing up everything from the latest hits to the deepest old school cuts. Every set is memorable and uniquely catered to the crowd and leaves every audience member buzzing with good vibes!

Introducing our Open Styles judge, Pyro!!

Andrew “Pyro” Chung found his passion for the arts in the year 1999. After years of training and learning, he has now competed in the highest levels of street dance competitions/battles, winning well over 50 titles worldwide and also representing Canada at the Street Dance World Cup in 2016. Throughout the duration of his battle career he was also training in choreography, working as a dancer on Film and TV shows (Disney, Netflix, Family Channel, CBC, CBBC) and on different stages around the world.

After early retirement from competing, he now focuses on sharing the knowledge he has gained over the years to train up and coming dancers to the best of his abilities. Co-founder of Footnotes Street Dance Academy, Pyro trains dancers to be knowledgeable within their own crafts and helps dancers grow more efficiently, so they don’t need to make the same mistakes he did.

Pyro has now been running Footnotes Academy for the past 10 years, while choreographing, scouting, and casting for film and television.

Introducing our Breaking Judge, TimJ repping TEK crew!!

Bboy TIMJ, a 29-year-old Bboy from TEK crew, has been perfecting his craft since 2011 from Brampton. Specializing in a clever style, his raw essence has taken him around North America and Asia as he continues to push the boundaries of breaking.

OPEN STYLES FORMAT
The 8 dancers that make it past prelims will be assigned a seed/rank based on their prelim score. The first seeded dancer will be announced, and they will come up and select their spot in the Top 8 Bracket. Then the second seeded dancer will choose their position in the bracket. This will continue until all spots are filled.

BREAKING FORMAT
The 13 breakers that make it past prelims will be assigned a seed/rank based on their prelim score. The first seeded breaker will be announced, then they will come up and select their spot in the Top 8 Bracket OR choose to enter the 5-to-drink lineup. Then the second seeded breaker will choose their position in the bracket OR 5-to-drink lineup. This will continue until all 13 spots are filled for both battle formats.

5-to-drink: A King of the Hill style competition, 1 person will stand on the ‘hill’ while the other 4 competitors form a line (positions will be drawn randomly from a hat). A 1 round battle will commence between whoever is on the hill and the breaker at the front of the line. The winner will stay/move to the top of the hill, win a point, and take a shot (liquor will be provided!). The loser will move to the back of the line. Battles will continue until someone has won 5 points.

We’re running it back and it’s the last one for the year! Freshest on the Block coming to you for the 3rd time! Bigger and better, you don’t wanna miss this one!
