Visual Shoegaze

Visual Shoegaze is my way of uncovering the hidden magic within the everyday. I move the camera itself.

This subtle shift doesn’t introduce anything that wasn’t already present in the world around us—it simply reveals it, seen through the right lens.. Through long exposure and intentional camera movement, I explore a technique I call Reverse Light Painting, where, instead of moving light in front of a stationary lens, I move the camera itself. Each image becomes a kind of memory, imperfect and raw, like the way we recall moments in our minds, colored by feeling rather than fact. Inspired by abstract impressionism and the immersive moods of shoegaze music, my work seeks to capture not just what is seen, but what is felt. I aim to create visual spaces where mystery and clarity coexist, allowing viewers to project their own emotions and experiences into the images. These imperfect records of the world reflect our own capacity for memory, bridging the gap between what we know and what we long to remember. Through Visual Shoegaze, I find a doorway to a fantastic surreality, a place where I long to be and feel what I long to feel. This process is about embracing the unpredictable, where chance and intention meet, capturing an atmosphere of beauty that might otherwise go unnoticed. For me, these works are living, breathing records of light and motion—intimate portraits of the everyday as it transforms into the extraordinary, inviting viewers to pause, connect, and see beyond the surface.

I believe live music photography is usually too clean, too crisp. Sure it’s nice, but it doesnt reflect what i remember feeling being there. Let’s face it, no one had a view of that show as good as your lens. Thats why I take shots like these. To show people what I remember seeing and feeling from the pit.

Hey Look, it’s our pal Adam and the rest of the band Taking Back Sunday.

I’ve been so excited for this band ever since The Color Fred joined them on tour last summer. I think having both Fred and John Nolan has brought out the best in Adam Lazzara. Shaun Cooper gave me a fist bump at the media tent, so that confirms it.

Honestly this was the band that I was most looking forward to. Adam is my favourite frontman to shoot- he is always doing the most- it’s a treat.

This band is so much fun, Barrels of Monkeys say things are more fun than Taking Back Sunday!

Tell all your friends. No reason to have a bad feeling about this, it’s where you wanna be. Make damn sure you say it louder now.

There’s a difference between sleight of hand, and giving everything you have, there’s a line drawn in the sand, I’m working up the will to cross it.

No band inspires me to be more than just carbon and chemicals.

This was the first set of Warped for me and it was a perfect start. Thrice is the quietest loud band. The calmest chaos. The most powerful tenderness.

Underoath (August 2026)

No photopass? No Olympus? No problem.

Majority of my shots last night were taken on the DXO One. Hands down my favourite camera. DxO Labs It’s ever so inviting.

But Underoath, Chris, Tim, Aaron, Grant, Spencer… now that you see what I can do without a photo pass- how’s about seeing if one can be found for me tonight? Or perhaps at Toronto date in the near future??? 🤔Either way I got my ticket and love ya all no matter what.

I really have to thank my friends from the pit last night. They knew how much I love this band and allowed me a spot at the barricade to shoot from. After their set finished I returned the spot to its original owner.

…but not before I grabbed a drumstick! 🤯🔥🖤🙌
