[External Merchandise Trade Continued To Rise in July]

According to Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) data released, the total value of Hong Kong’s exports and imports both recorded year-on-year increases by 50.7% and 41% respectively.

Compared with the same month last year, the value of total exports to most major destinations in Asia increased, particularly to Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, the Mainland, Singapore and Malaysia. Outside of Asia, the value of total exports to most major destinations in other regions also mounted, remarkably to the United States and Mexico.

During the same period, the value of imports from most major supplier regions also soared, particularly from South Korea, India, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, the United States and the Mainland.

A Government spokesperson stated that merchandise exports surged further in July, with exports of artificial intelligence-related electronic products once again recording a substantial increase. Looking ahead, strong global demand for artificial intelligence-related electronic products is expected to continue to underpin Hong Kong’s merchandise trade performance. However, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, trade protectionism in advanced economies and risks arising from the rapid expansion of global investment in artificial intelligence pose challenges, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will monitor the situation closely.

【7月份對外商品貿易繼續錄得升幅】

根據政府統計處今日發表的對外商品貿易統計數字，今年7月本港整體出口和進口貨值均錄得按年升幅，分別上升50.7%和41%。

與去年同月比較，輸往亞洲大部分主要目的地的整體出口貨值錄得升幅，尤其是台灣、越南、泰國、內地、新加坡和馬來西亞。除亞洲外，輸往其他地區的大部分主要目的地的整體出口貨值錄得升幅，尤其是美國和墨西哥。

同期，來自大部分主要供應地的進口貨值錄得升幅，尤其是韓國、印度、英國、馬來西亞、美國和內地。

政府發言人表示，7月商品出口進一步飆升，當中人工智能相關電子產品的出口再度錄得可觀的增幅。展望未來，全球對人工智能相關電子產品的強勁需求，預料將繼續支持香港的商品貿易表現。然而，中東地緣政治緊張局勢、先進經濟體的貿易保護主義，以及環球人工智能投資快速擴張帶來風險，特區政府會密切留意情況。
