As an author I perhaps surprisingly rarely read books. Time is precious and filled with other “stuff”, and my ADHD brain prefers a bullet point version.
The recommendation for this book however was a wonderful gift from Paul Coleman (RIP), who founded Oxford Karate Academy.
He recommended it to me about 15 years ago and I read the paperback, but didn’t get it.
On Thursday I was chatting to someone who mentioned where they are at and it came to mind as the perfect book for them. No idea why. So I decided to re read it.
What a beautiful book and message. I have never been so moved by the learnings. Almost every page has been highlighted (digitally!), and I’d guess that every two to three pages I had to step back and reflect on the story.
Please do spend the couple of quid to get this on Kindle if you are able. Your future self will thank you.
Paul, I am gutted that when I searched for your details to thank you personally, I learned of your passing a few years ago. You won’t hear this but thank you. You won’t remember the recommendation but thank you. RIP Paul, your legacy lives on x

follow southend away… great three points, kamara jr and the keeper look great but it’s a bit like Triggers broom, same same but different.
Cautiously optimistic.
Southend people - sadly my Vespa was stolen last night. Registration Y2CSR, a white GTS300 (2023 model).
I have some CCTV of the toerag wheeling it away.
If you see a white Vespa that’s relatively new, with or without personalised numberplate, let me know ASAP.
