We were delighted to welcome Janet Morrison to the store last night to speak with Faye Mishna about Janet's new book, Relationships Matter: Building Children's Resilience within the Family, School and Community. What a wonderful turnout! This was the first time our store was filled to capacity for an event, and it was lively!
Janet and Faye touched on a lot of topics from the book, including practical and empathetic approaches to coping with problem behaviours, and the importance of apology in repairing and maintaining relationships.
You can purchase Relationships Matter in our store or on our website. For more from Janet, check out her podcast: Catch Collaborative Therapy for Children

Our events programming is taking a summer break for August, but we have a full slate of author appearances lined up for September!
On Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00 PM, we're hosting a discussion between two authors on the art of the memoir, and on how memoirs can combat stigma by breaking the silence on topics like infertility and mental health.
Stacey May Fowles' new book is The Lost Season, a memoir exploring infertility, motherhood, mental health, and the work demanded of women. She'll be joined by Miranda Newman, author of Rough Magic: Living with Borderline Personality Disorder. Their conversation will be followed by a Q&A.

FINDING ORDER IN DISORDER
Ishaa Vinod Chopra | ईशा विनोद चोपड़ा
Ishaa Vinod Chopra battled bipolar disorder for over a decade. She has also been a victim of domestic abuse in her short-lived marriage. Finding Order in Disorder is a stunning memoir of her experiences battling enormous odds and emerging triumphant. In lucid, simple prose the author addresses what it is like to be diagnosed with bipolar disorder, how it affects interpersonal relationships, and how societal norms influence our understanding of and responses to mental health issues. She also narrates how these traumatic and life- altering experiences have helped her gain insights into life and empowered her to the extent that along with being an early childhood educator, she is now an active campaigner for mental health. With wisdom stemming from first-hand experience, she provides a haunting account of repeated hospitalizations, heavy medication, heartbreak, and discrimination based on diagnosis, while advocating the importance of art therapy, dance, yoga and self-love to cope with mental health issues. Brutally honest and often piercing in its observations, this is a memoir that is both heart-wrenching and inspirational.
