Congratulations to our Taiwan heroes at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games for constantly breaking their own limits, now As of October 1st, with a total of 42 medals (🥇 3 Gold, 🥈 12 Silver, 🥉 27 Bronze)!

Vice President Bi-khim Hsiao extended her congratulations to all athletes breaking personal bests and setting new records, emphasizing just how remarkable it is to stand on the international stage.

With more competitions coming up, Vice President Hsiao encourages all citizens to keep sending their energy and support to our athletes. We are all members of Team Taiwan, let's cheer for Taiwan together!

A recent confrontation outside the Chinese consulate in Toronto has sparked significant concern over transnational repression. Ambassador Harry Tseng, Representative of Taiwan to Canada, raises an urgent question critical to the survival of democracy: Who governs political expression on Canadian soil?

"The confrontation on a Toronto sidewalk days ago was about more than one protest. Whatever the identity or motivation of the aggressor, it raises a larger question: whether political restrictions imposed by an authoritarian state can follow people into a democratic country."

As a like-minded democratic partner, Taiwan stands firmly with Canada in safeguarding our shared values of liberty and the rule of law.

聯大第2758號決議未提及台灣，不能作為限制台灣參與多邊國際機制的依據 | UNGA Res. 2758 does not mention Taiwan and cannot restrict our global participation

As the 81st UN General Assembly marks the 55th anniversary of Resolution 2758, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates:

🔸 No mention of Taiwan: The 150-word resolution does not mention Taiwan and never authorized Beijing to represent it in the UN system.

🔸 An objective reality: Taiwan and the PRC are not subordinate to each other. Only Taiwan’s democratically elected government can represent its 23 million people.

🔸 Growing international support: Allies and global partners—including the US, Japan, Canada, Australia, and the EU—have increasingly pushed back against Beijing’s malicious distortions of the resolution.

🔸 Democratic foundations: Taiwan's robust democracy and free elections reflect our enduring commitment to freedom and the rules-based international order.

We urge the UN to uphold neutrality and allow Taiwan to contribute to global peace, security, and human well-welbeing!

聯大第2758號決議未提及台灣，不能作為限制台灣參與多邊國際機制的依據

第81屆聯合國大會正在紐約舉行，適逢決議通過55週年，外交部嚴正重申：

🔸 決議未授權代表權： 聯大第2758號決議全文僅150字，隻字未提「台灣」，既未確認台灣是中華人民共和國的一部分，也未授權其在聯合國體系代表台灣。任何一方皆不得以此排除台灣參與國際體系。

🔸 互不隸屬的客觀現狀： 中華民國台灣與中華人民共和國互不隸屬。唯有台灣的民選政府，才能代表2,300萬人民參與國際事務。

🔸 國際社會強力聲援： 近年中國持續惡意扭曲決議，已引發美、日、英、加、荷、澳、歐盟及友邦等國際夥伴的公開駁斥與堅定支持。外交部表達最誠摯的感謝。

🔸 民主成就與法理事實： 台灣擁有成熟的民主體制與直選政權，且《舊金山和約》從未將台灣交給中華人民共和國，北京當局也從未統治過台灣。

我們呼籲國際社會共同反制惡意扭曲，並敦促聯合國秉持中立，讓台灣為全球和平與人類福祉貢獻力量，實現「普惠全人類聯合國」的目標！

🇹🇼 挺台灣！全力爭取台灣有意義參與聯合國體系！ | Stand with ! Fully supporting Taiwan's meaningful participation in the UN system!

In an op-ed published in Canada’s influential political news site National Newswatch titled "Restoring trust: Taiwan’s rightful place in the free world," Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung calls on the international community to support Taiwan’s meaningful inclusion in the United Nations system.

Minister Lin points out that UN Resolution 2758 has long been distorted. Restoring trust in the UN must begin by treating every global member fairly and ending the unjust exclusion of a constructive, reliable partner like Taiwan.

Taiwan consistently works alongside like-minded nations to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), making essential contributions to global democracy, human rights, and peace.

The free world and the UN need Taiwan. Integrating Taiwan into the UN system is key to building a more inclusive, secure, and resilient international order.

外交部長林佳龍在加拿大最具影響力的政治新聞網National Newswatch發表專文「Restoring trust: Taiwan’s rightful place in the free world（重建信任：台灣在自由世界的應有地位）」，呼籲國際社會支持台灣有意義地參與聯合國體系。

林部長明確指出，聯大第 2758 號決議長期遭惡意扭曲。重建對聯合國的信任，必須從「公平對待全球每一成員」開始，絕不該將台灣這樣具建設性且值得信賴的夥伴排除在外。

台灣長期與理念相近國家緊密合作，積極落實聯合國永續發展目標（SDGs），為全球民主、人權與和平發展作出不可或缺的貢獻。

自由世界與聯合國需要台灣，接納台灣有意義參與聯合國，是打造更包容、安全且具韌性之國際秩序的關鍵。
