More on PARTS+LABOUR:
Based in Montreal, PARTS+LABOUR is undeniably one of today’s bold and distinctive voices in contemporary dance. Since 2011, co-choreographers Emily Gualtieri and David Albert-Toth have created works that blur the boundaries between structure and spontaneity, weaving together the personal, poetic, and political.

⚡See these five fierce, femme-identifying artists who bring endurance, collective presence, and persistence to the stage: Maïka Giasson, Jossua Satinée, Jo Laïny Trozzo-Mounet, Brianna Lombardo and Lou-Anne Rousseau.

“As rights are rolled back, bodies policed, and pressures to perform mount, LABOUR responds to a fractured world and a long history of erasure, where womxn’s labour, care, and creative force have sustained societies even as they were sexualized, infantilized, subjugated, and controlled.

LABOUR emerges from this reflection.

This physically rigorous work centres and celebrates the resilience and power of womxn.

By placing the performers at the heart of both process and dramaturgy, LABOUR challenges traditional hierarchies and dominant models of power.

Power circulates here: it is shared, shifted, and reconfigured. Friction, repetition, and duration become tools that are as political as they are aesthetic.”
- Emily Gualtieri and David Albert-Toth, co-choreographer of LABOUR.

LABOUR by PARTS+LABOUR
Raw, sweaty, visceral, and absurd, it rejects aesthetic politeness and imagines a shared power.

⚡The work puts at the forefront womxn’s labour and the radical forces that build, sustain, reimagine and transform.

Through unstable and yet simple rhythms, it turns the body into a site of metamorphosis, confronting today’s fragmented realities with gestures of resistance, care, and collective, celebratory force.
